Kusuda-Smick, who has more than 16 years of marketing, communications and sales experience, is responsible for strategic planning and corporate-wide communications and public relations. Perrigo, a certified public accountant with 15 years of experience, is responsible for managing project accountants, process improvements and enhancing internal controls and systems.

Sparling recently added principals Bob Eastman, Jeff Hankin and Troy Thrun to its executive management committee, which is responsible for growth, leading firm-wide initiatives and implementing the strategic vision. Eastman joined the firm in 2003 and his current projects include Harborview Medical Center, Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton Colo., Loma Linda University and Washington State University. Hankin is a principal with more than 15 years experience in health care, corporate and retail industries. Thrun joined Sparling in 2000 and directs design of a range of project types. He is directing electrical and technology design teams on the WSU biotechnology/life sciences facility, Agua Caliente Cultural Museum in Palm Springs, Wing Luke Asian Museum and the Muckleshoot Casino expansion.

NBBJ

NBBJ recently announced seven new principals at its Seattle office. Dale Alberdattle has been an architect with NBBJ for three years and is working on the Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, and the Virginia Mason Medical Center Master Plan and East Campus project in Seattle. As a controller, Brenda Clark oversees the firm's domestic and international tax--related issues. Kay Compton is the design lead for NBBJ's commercial and mixed-use practice. Her current projects include a Bellevue development with more than 1 million square feet of office, retail, hotel and condominium space, and Seventh & Madison, a class-A office building in Seattle. Liz Jacks has more than 30 years experience in campus and institutional master planning and facility program planning, as well as strategic planning, financial, cost, operational and workload analysis. Her recent projects include Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and Stanford University Learning and Knowledge Center. Diane Lindberg-Nigh has 29 years of experience with NBBJ. Her work includes the new 315,000-square-foot inpatient hospital for Swedish Orthopedic Institute and Island Hospital in Anacortes. Lynne Shira, a registered nurse, has 32 years in the medical field and now works in NBBJ's health care consulting practice. She is working with the Swedish Medical Center Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle and the new San Carlos Center for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Nancy Waiss is responsible for coordinating facilities and office services across the firm. Her recent project was leading logistical efforts for the move from Pioneer Square to South Lake Union.

William Frare has joined the Washington State Department of Natural Resources as manager of engineering and general services manager. Frare has worked for the Washington State Department of Transportation, the California Department of Transportation, and Thurston County Roads and Transportation Services.

MulvannyG2 Architecture hired Lawrence Yuan as principal and technical design lead of the Shanghai International Group based in Bellevue, with a regional office in Shanghai. The group's recent projects include a twin-tower hotel, office and retail mixed-use development in Hangzhou, China, and an island resort with a hotel, beach and hillside villas in Bahrain. The group is also doing urban planning in Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Yuan will manage all operations of the group, from quality control to business development in Shanghai and Bellevue.
