ALSC Architects

ALSC Architects hired Scott Nicks as a project manager and Brian Johnson as an architectural intern. Nicks is working on Olds Junior High for North Franklin School District in Connell. His experience includes retail, office and recreational facilities. Johnson received his master's of architecture in 2010 from Montana State University. He is on the team for the Plummer-Worley Elementary School in Plummer, Idaho. The 45-person firm works on education, retail, military, sports and recreation projects, with offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

EDI

EDI hired Mark July as a senior audio-visual technology consultant in its Seattle office. July has 20 years of experience designing and managing audio-visual projects. Presentation Magazine voted his boardroom audio-visual design as one of the top 10 in the nation, EDI said. His projects include a boardroom for Ford in Dearborn, Mich., Fermi II Nuclear Operations Center in Monroe, Mich., and ShoWare Event Center in Kent. Atlanta-based EDI provides services in audio-visual and acoustics, communications and network technology, and security.

Hart Crowser

Hart Crowser's Seattle office hired Ben Blanchette as a geotechnical engineer, Andrew Kaparos as an environmental engineer and Joe Kinerk as a field environmental scientist. Lorne Arnold is a geotechnical intern. Blanchette holds a master's in geotechnical engineering from the University of Washington. He is working on Seattle Children's Hospital. Kaparos has a master's in environmental engineering from the University of Florida. He is working on environmental monitoring and channel repair at Middle Waterway in Tacoma. Kinerk has four years of field experience on geotechnical and environmental projects, including soils laboratory work. He is doing construction observation and environmental monitoring for the Department of Information Services data center in Olympia. Arnold has a bachelor's in civil engineering from UW. He is supporting the King Street Station seismic upgrade. Hart Crowser is headquartered in Seattle, with offices in Edmonds and Portland.

DKA Architecture

Julie Koch and Megan Markham, interior designers with DKA Architecture, earned their National Council for Interior Design Qualifications credentials. Seattle-based DKA provides architectural, interior design and owner representative services.

McKinstry

McKinstry hired Peter Locke as sustainability consulting director. Locke is an architect with 30 years of international experience on integrated design teams. He has led teams in concept development, master planning, integrated building design and sustainability. Projects include convention centers and commercial office. For the past six years he has focused on consulting for commercial, institutional and private clients, including Seattle and Microsoft. McKinstry specializes in consulting, construction and energy services.

Sparling

Sparling promoted Kimberly Eiring to chief financial officer. She will also sit on the executive committee. Eiring has more than 21 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis, strategic planning, financing, process re-engineering and asset management. Eiring helped orchestrate Sparling's acquisition of ILA Zammit Engineering in San Diego and opening a Houston office. Sparling is an electrical engineering and technology-consulting firm based in Seattle.

Otak

Otak hired Nick Allmendinger in the Kirkland office as a senior geomorphologist in the water and natural resources group. Allmendinger has 10 years of experience working on streams and watersheds, and has published papers about the influence of urbanization on river processes. He was an assistant professor in the Department of Watershed Sciences at Utah State University, and was a geomorphologist at Otak from 2006 to 2008. Otak is an urban design, architecture, planning and engineering firm.

Webb
ALSC Architects' interior designer Lesa A. Webb earned the National Council for Interior Design Qualification certificate. Webb has worked in the field for 14 years. She is working on retail projects for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service at military installations in the United States. ALSC works on education, retail, military, sports and recreation projects, with offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Flood
Guarin
Michael Willis Architects hired Melissa Guarin as an architect and Ian Flood as an intern architect in its Portland office. Guarin has eight years of architectural experience in education, retail, renovations, institutional and housing. She is working on the Monroe Water Treatment Plant and a modular office building at the West Point Treatment Plant. She also is managing two Portland Bureau of Environmental Services' projects. Flood is assisting on the Bull Run Supply Treatment project and the Chambers Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion.
