The SvR Design Co. board of directors appointed Tom von Schrader as president. Von Schrader is a founding principal and civil engineer with SvR and has been with the company for 23 years. He has been a leader in working on Complete Streets and green infrastructure, and lectures nationwide on that topic. Seattle-based SvR provides civil engineering, landscape architecture, planning and environmental restoration services.

MW Consulting Engineers promoted Jake Deering to principal, mechanical systems. Deering joined MW in 1999, and has the lead role in managing mechanical systems for U.S. embassy projects. He has been chapter president of ASHRAE and co-chair of the USGBC Cascadia chapter in Spokane.

McGranahan Architects hired Todd Olson as director of its health care studio. He will lead expansion in that sector. Olson has nearly 30 years of experience on health care projects. He is a project manager with a background in inpatient and ambulatory care. His clients have included Franciscan Health Services and Swedish Medical Center.

The Blueline Group hired Tom Mohr as a project engineer. He has more than 10 years of civil engineering and municipal project management experience. Blueline provides civil engineering and land use planning.

Seattle-based landscape architecture firm The LA Studio hired Chris Petersen as a landscape architect/project manager. Petersen worked at Bruce Dees & Associates in Tacoma and Huitt-Zollars in Seattle. He has experience on public and private projects, and is working on the Tukwila Village housing/retail/commercial development. LA Studio provides land planning, landscape architecture and land entitlement services.

PacLand engineering firm hired Josh Brannin as a project engineer. He has more than six years of civil engineering experience on transportation, site development, design/build, and design/bid/build projects. PacLand also provides planning.

Ryan Parfait of Sparling earned his Washington engineering license. Parfait joined the firm four years ago with a bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Washington. He is working on projects for Group Health and the University of Washington.
Cary Kopczynski & Co. hired Joel Kipple as a design engineer, Jacob Lanquin as a CAD designer/drafter and Aiko Hollinger as an administrative assistant. Kipple has more than six years of engineering experience. He is working on the Viktoria Apartments, a 24-story tower at 1915 Second Ave. in Seattle. Lanquin has 12 years of experience in AutoCAD drafting. He is working on Ameristar, a $500 million gaming resort in Louisiana. Hollinger has four years of experience and is a graduate of Gonzaga University. CKC is a structural engineering firm based in Bellevue.
