Seattle-based Schacht Aslani Architects hired Shazi Tharian as a staff architect and Andrew Ellis, Neil Parrish and Jonathan French as intern architects. Tharian previously was a staff architect at Bassetti Architects. Schacht Aslani said associate Jean-Claude Letourneau received a certificate from the Design-Build Institute of America in design-build project delivery.
The Blueline Group hired Dene Kuzaro as an engineer-in-training. Kuzaro works on residential, commercial and public works projects. Blueline provides civil engineering and land use planning.
Eset Alemu of West Consultants received her Washington engineering licence. She works in the Bellevue office of the Salem, Ore.-based water resources engineering firm.
Mike Retford joined the architectural firm HOK in San Francisco as director of a team that works on projects for police, crime labs, emergency operations centers, courthouses, and correctional centers in California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Arizona. Retford previously was with Aecom, and has 30 years of experience as a principal, project manager and project architect. HOK has 25 offices worldwide.
Otak hired Darcey Miller and Jenny Ngo as a senior wetland biologist and a planner, respectively, in Kirkland. Miller has 13 years of multidisciplinary science experience and has worked on projects in Washington, California, Montana and Louisiana. She was a shoreline biologist responding to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Ngo was a commuter profiles designer with the University of Washington. Otak provides engineering, urban design, architecture and planning.
