Mantz has experience in environmental sustainability. She is assisting on retail and hospitality projects, and designing a cabin in the Cascades.

Engelbrecht will lead a team of naval architects and marine engineers, and work to expand the government and commercial business of the Bremerton-based engineering firm. He has done business development, technical sales, project management and engineering for marine and naval architecture-related industries, and was a Navy nuclear submarine officer.

In Seattle, AHBL hired Nadine Laszlo as a senior landscape project manager and Lauren Lovatt as a project engineer. In Tacoma, it hired Bart Brynestad and Anne Turpin as project engineers. Laszlo holds a bachelor of landscape architecture from Michigan State University and has design experience. Lovatt holds a bachelor's in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Washington, and has three years of industry experience. Brynestad holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the UW. He worked for the Corps of Engineers on hydraulic modeling. Turpin has 16 years of experience, including in site design and CADD drafting. AHBL provides civil and structural engineering, landscape architecture, community planning and land surveying, with offices also in Spokane and the Tri-Cities.

He has over five years of experience in park design, urban design, playgrounds, campus design, sports fields and stormwater bioretention facilities. He is working on Pacific Highway improvements for Kent. Otak provides urban design, architecture, planning and engineering.

He has 12 years of experience leading teams on natural resource mitigation projects for government and commercial clients. Hoenig was with Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and holds a master's in evolution, ecology and systematics from the University of Munich. The Watershed Co. provides natural resources assessment, mitigation and restoration design, environmental planning and permitting, arborist and landscape architecture services.

In its Seattle office, DCI Engineers hired Sam Amador as a structural CAD designer, Angela Ansell as a human resources assistant, James Campbell as a staff accountant, Yuting Ci as a staff engineer, Bradley Geyer as a structural project engineer, Kittrina Oliver as a civil project engineer and Maggie Whaley as a marketing coordinator. Amador has returned to DCI, where he previously worked on the 929 Office Tower in Bellevue. He has 13 years of structural drafting experience, and was a project manager at Hunter Structural in Charlotte, N.C. Ansell oversees hiring activities, employee benefits and administrative work. She assisted the HR staff at the University of Washington for five years and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center for two years. Campbell briefly did auditing at DCI in 2008. He is doing billing, payroll support, FAR compliance, and account work as DCI becomes involved in more government projects. Ci was a DCI intern and is working on the Crosby Capitol Hill mixed-use building. Geyer interned at Sound Structures in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. He contributes to a tenant improvement project for Canyon Park in Bothell. Oliver has over nine years of engineering experience that includes working for David Evans and Associates. She supports the 4.6 acre Bellevue International Plaza project. Whaley does proposals, website content and social media. She has a combined five years of marketing experience at radio station 94.1 KMPS and at HDR. DCI is a civil and structural engineering firm.

FCS Group hired Scott Bash as president. Bash is the second president since the firm was established in 1988. He has 30 years of business experience in the engineering industry. He has been vice president of business systems and technology for CH2M, asset management practice leader at HDR, and vice president at Brown & Caldwell. FCS is a financial consulting firm that works with the public sector.

In its Seattle headquarters, Studio 216 hired Aidan Doyle and Sheena Garcia as senior creative leads. It also hired Liz O'Carroll as its new director of business development in the San Francisco office. Doyle worked at Kallmann McKinnell & Wood in Boston, and with Foster and Partners in London on Apple's new headquarters in Cupertino, California, with Safdie Architects in Boston, and most recently with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in Seattle. Garcia was with DBOX, SHoP Architects and Bernard Tschumi Architects as a lead visualizer for design projects and marketing campaigns. O'Carroll was vice president of marketing for nine years for Jones Lang Lasalle's Northwest region. She will work on client partnerships in the California market.

HOK's Seattle studio hired Julia Payne Cooper as a workplace strategist. She has over 10 years of strategic planning experience and 25 years of design experience. She will be involved in client visioning, strategic planning, workplace transformation and change management and communication for her projects. She worked at Callison in Seattle before spending 10 years overseas working for Geyer and DOW and four years in Washington D.C., Portland and Seattle with ZGF Architects.

SAGE Architectural Alliance hired Tom Larsen and Kim Anh Tran-Dinh as an intern architects. Larsen has experience in senior and affordable housing and a background as a metal fabricator, project manager, estimator and designer. Tran-Dinh has experience in senior and affordable housing and non-profit center, garden and park projects. The Seattle architectural firm focuses on senior and multifamily affordable housing.

SCJ Alliance hired Thera Black as transportation planning manager. Since 2000, Black has been a senior planner at the Thurston Regional Planning Council, managing the regional transportation work program. She lectures about transportation policy, planning and public process, and is active with the national Transportation Research Board. SCJ provides transportation planning and design, civil engineering, landscape architecture and land use/environmental planning.
