Light

Mike Light has been hired as a landscape architect and brings over 10 years of experience to Architects West. He previously worked in Calgary, Alberta, in both the public and private sectors. His portfolio includes streetscape revitalization, transit-oriented development, parks and naturalized areas, urban pocket parks, and community master planning. Light has a special interest in activating urban street life and has won awards in public space design competitions and small-scale community initiatives.

Light earned his bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Idaho in 2009 and his diploma in landscape architectural technology from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2007. Light recently completed his Master Gardener Certificate and is passionate about the role plants play in building healthy communities.

Blueline announced six new hires. Caitlin Hepworth has been hired as a planner. Hepworth is a graduate of Western Washington University with an bachelor's degree in urban planning and sustainable development. Hepworth has experience as an assistant planner and project planner with Barghausen Consulting Engineers, and was an intern for Whatcom County Department of Emergency Management. Hepworth will help city and county efforts in current plan review and population growth impacts research, and serve as a liaison between clients and local jurisdictions for Blueline.

Julian Adler was hired as an engineering drafter to work on residential and public works projects. Adler studied architectural engineering at North Seattle College and has several years' experience as a drafter.

Sheri White joins the firm as the staff accountant to assist in all finance functions. She has over 20 years of experience working in the consulting industry with the last 15 years as accounting lead at SoundEarth Strategies, specializing in environmental consulting.

Serena Dudas has been hired as a planner. Dudas is a graduate of the University of Redlands with a bachelor's degree in environmental policy and management, and has experience as a planner for CASC Engineering and Consulting in Southern California. Dudas will be working on site feasibilities, permit coordination, and grant applications for Blueline.

Elise Gooding joins Blueline as an engineer to work on commercial projects. Gooding is part of the 2021 graduating class at Cal Poly SLO, with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Throughout her undergraduate career she has been very involved with the Engineers Without Borders-USA Cal Poly SLO Chapter.

Olivia Westmoreland has also been hired as an engineer to work on residential projects. Westmoreland is a graduate of Marquette University, with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a concentration in engineering leadership. She has experience as a project intern for Graham Construction.

Blueline provides civil engineering, land-use planning, and landscape architecture services to land developers and public agencies throughout the Pacific Northwest.

DCI Engineers announced three new associate principals in the firm's Seattle office: Patrick Lindblom, Eric Pope and Gaelyn Krauser. Lindblom is best known for his project management of The Grand in Los Angeles, Madison Centre, and Amazon Apollo Building in Seattle. He is a member of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, National Council of Structural Engineers Association, Structural Engineers Association of Washington, American Concrete Institute, and NAIOP-WA.

Pope's expertise is mid-rise and high-rise commercial design, as well as life science and residential structures. His project portfolio includes 1001 Office Towers, Boren Office Tower, 620 Terry and Interval. He is a member of NAIOP-WA and the Structural Engineers Association of Washington Seattle Chapter.

Krauser has expanded her team leadership and office management roles at the firm. Her project contributions include Fifteen Fifty, Avenue Bellevue, 4th & Bell, Seattle Residence Inn, and Terminal 106. Krauser is a member of the Post-Tensioning Institute, and the Seattle Chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women.

The Greenbusch Group welcomed Nagi Bachour as senior mechanical designer. With over 28 years of experience, Bachour brings expertise in mechanical, plumbing and firefighting systems design, execution, supervision, testing and commissioning, project management, and business development. He will be based in the Seattle office.

HBB Landscape Architecture announced the promotion of Michelle Biggs to associate. Biggs has over six years of experience working in landscape architecture in the United States and Canada. Her experience includes a diverse range of public and private projects, including parks, trails, streetscapes, schools, multifamily residential, and mixed-use developments. This background has provided her with a solid foundation in site analysis, design development, cost estimating, and construction documentation. Recent projects include SR 509 Phase 1B through Des Moines, Kent and SeaTac; SoCo Park master plan in Covington; Meridian Habitat Park Phase 4 improvements in Pierce County; and Smokey Point Boulevard corridor improvements in Arlington.

Art Anderson announced three new hires. Sabrina Stengle joins the firm as a designer. Stengle will work in the Marine Division and will be responsible for detailed design and drafting of ship systems. Her experience as a shipfitter, which allowed for hands-on problem solving, will be an asset.

Stan Kulsa has been hired as a project manager and senior naval architect/marine engineer. Kulsa will also work in the firm's Marine Division. He will carry out design efforts as a team member with senior engineers, architects and designers; and will be responsible for the independent execution of engineering design solutions. Kulsa will perform assigned design solutions in accordance with accepted engineering standards. Assignments will include a wide variety of naval architect/marine engineering design services related to supporting projects focusing on vessel stability, structural analysis, mechanical engineering, and vessel constructability.

Ryan Fish joins the firm as an electrical engineer. Fish will be responsible for electrical design and related services. He will perform assigned design solutions in accordance with accepted engineering standards.

Blueline recently hired five new employees. MaKenzie Fockler was hired as an engineer to work on residential projects. Fockler is a graduate of the University of Washington with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. In addition to her engineering experience as an intern at RH2 Engineering and as a civil designer at Hatton Godat Pantier, she has traveled the world by herself through the UW's Bonderman Fellowship.

Melanie Williams was hired as an engineering drafter. Williams is originally from the Philippines, where she received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Cebu Institute of Technology-University. Most recently, she was working for PACE out of its Oregon office doing survey drafting.

Rudy Jimenez Jr. joins the firm as an engineering designer to work on public works projects. Jimenez comes from Houston, and has experience as a civil CAD designer on multiple water and wastewater projects with Brown & Caldwell in Seattle and other engineering firms in Houston.

Dan Saarenas was hired as an engineering designer. Saarenas is a graduate of the University of Washington with a bachelor of science in civil engineering degree and has over 10 years of civil design experience. Saarenas will be working on residential projects for Blueline.

David (Dave) Bramer joins the firm as a project landscape architect. Bramer is a graduate of the University of Washington with a master's degree in landscape architecture, and has over 10 years of experience in landscape architecture. He will be working on multifamily, mixed used and other commercial projects for Blueline.

Michael Romero, LEED AP, has joined Parametrix as a senior construction manager based in Seattle. He has over 25 years of industry experience in landscape architecture, project and construction management. He has spent the last 15 years providing construction and project management services for K-12 schools and other public sector clients. Romero comes from the Shoreline School District, where he served as a construction manager. He managed the budget, programming, schedule, consultants, design, permitting, and construction for a four-school, $250 million bond program. His project experience also includes work for the Lake Washington School District, Seattle Public Schools, state of Washington, city of Bainbridge Island, Pierce Transit and King County Metro. At Parametrix, he joins the firm's community building division, providing project and construction management services to public and private clients in the Puget Sound region.

Tae Kim, PE, LEED, has joined Stantec as a senior mechanical engineer. He is based out of the firm's Lynnwood office, concentrating on health care projects. Kim has 16 years of experience managing the engineering of mechanical and plumbing systems for new and existing health care facilities including Swedish Medical Center, University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center.
