Olson Kundig has announced several leadership promotions across the firm. Clay Anderson has been promoted to principal; David Mann has been named director of the Chicago office; and Laura Bartunek, Christine Burkland, Simon Clews, Meghan Griswold, Allison Johnson, Jesse Kingsley, and Brian Walters have been promoted to associate principal.

Anderson's experience spans single- and multi-family residential, hospitality, commercial, and cultural projects around the world. He has been instrumental in the development of many of the firm's public design installations, including ICECUBE and Homebase.

Mann has been a practicing architect for over 30 years and has experience across a range of project types with a focus on cultural, civic, and higher education work. He has served as the chair of Oak Park Plan Commission for nine years, as well as mentoring students in the Virginia Tech Chicago Studio.

Bartunek works on the firm's cultural and residential projects. Her process embraces a fascination with narrative landscapes as a point of departure for design investigations.

Burkland is a frequent collaborator with Olson Kundig's principal/founder Jim Olson, often developing custom furniture and lighting designs that extend the architectural vision from a building's form to its inner materiality and texture. She has worked across a range of market sectors, including hospitality, mixed-use and higher education, with a focus on residential interior design.

Clews originally came to Olson Kundig through the firm's International Internship Program and has risen through the ranks as a project architect and project manager. While his experience is broad, his focus has been custom single-family residential design, including expanding the firm's residential portfolio in Australia and New Zealand.

Griswold has a wide range of experience working on high-end, award-winning residential projects. Her work often focuses on wood construction and timeless building materials.

Johnson works across a broad range of project types including hospitality, residential, cultural, civic landscape, mixed-use development, high-rise towers, and historic preservation. Johnson is an AIA Medal of Excellence recipient.

Kingsley specializes in single-family residential projects at a variety of scales from large, complex art homes to small, scrappy remodels.

Walters works on a variety of project types and scales, including residential, hospitality, workplace, and mixed-use, and has served as design representative and co-chair of Seattle's Design Review Board.

Olson Kundig also announced the following promotions to senior associate and associate.

Oaks

Otak announced the recent promotions of Sarah Oaks and Doug Garland to the new director and practice area leader for the company's comprehensive project management team (Otak CPM).

Oaks joined the organization in 2016 as a project manager supporting the Tigard-Tualatin School District bond. Since that time, she has risen through the organization while advancing her operational and leadership responsibilities from the program to business unit level. Over the last four years, Oaks has served Otak CPM in a leadership capacity to support business operations and individual project teams, first as operations manager and then as business unit leader. Some notable contributions include helping spearhead the team's “Development Advisor” mentorship program while championing best practices, operational procedures, and other team development investments.

Garland has been with Otak CPM for the past 13 years, where he has applied more than 22 years of his construction industry knowledge to the oversight of many critical projects in a variety of both public and private markets. These include courthouses, hospitals, first responder facilities, higher education projects and industrial manufacturing buildings.

PLS Engineering

Brancheau

Joining PLS Engineering is senior CAD drafter, David Brancheau. His previous career has provided Brancheau with excellent experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines. Projects have included stormwater treatment in a variety of civil infrastructure settings. He is a graduate of Portland Community College.
