Photos by Steve Dubinsky Close siting to a major arterial and a billboard-like western façade give the King County Library Service Center in Issaquah a strong public presence. Architects reduced the visual bulk of the service center by arranging simple geometric forms with overlapping metallic planes.

At its previous location in a monumental blue building on Eighth Avenue between Thomas and Harrison streets, the center served a large network of 41 county libraries from a space designed originally for United Parcel Service.
