Andrew Bergh: Sympathetic jury causes judge to order new trial

Jurors are always told they can't be swayed by sympathy. A recent case from Florida called Samuels v. Torres shows exactly why this is so.

In late June 2006, Robin Samuels was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle accident. The collision occurred when Samuels, while traveling with her husband, was rear-ended by a semi-truck that forced their car into a guardrail.
