John Meisenbach has the right idea. Not a man to dwell in negative thinking, he likes to examine all sides of an issue. Meisenbach, president of MCM, a Seattle-based financial services and insurance company, believes that we are not talking enough about what is going well with our economy. As an example, he mentioned that 6 percent unemployment also means that 94 percent of the workforce is employed.
Meisenbach offers a perfect example of realistic optimism. It is so easy to immerse oneself in doom and gloom. Instead of only counting how many dollars you have lost, also focus on how many dollars you still have. Instead of bemoaning how your revenues have fallen, also look at the revenues you are still bringing in.
