Western Washington University

Gov. Gary Locke appointed Bellingham businessman F. Murray Haskell to Western Washington University's board of trustees. Currently chairman of Haskell Corp., a mechanical and general contracting company in Bellingham, Haskell is a recipient of the Whatcom County Lifetime Business Award, has served as trustee of Bellingham Vocational College, was chairman of the Northwestern Commercial Bank board of directors and has served on the boards of directors of U.S. Bank, Bellingham National Bank, the Washington Athletic Club and several other organizations.

Kibble & Prentice

Joe Strecker has been named senior vice president of Kibble & Prentice, a Seattle-based financial services firm. Strecker is an account executive in the investment consulting and retirement plan services division of the firm.

Stoel Rives

Christina Haring and Gary Luke have joined the Seattle office of the law firm Stoel Rives. Haring and Luke both practice in the firm's construction and design group. Haring's practice emphasizes construction and design litigation. Luke assists both public and private clients in a variety of construction matters.

Applied Discovery

Applied Discovery, a Bellevue-based developer of web-based solutions for the legal industry, announced that it has named Paul Weber chief information officer. Weber will be responsible for all internal systems at the company and will lead the company's data center management and operations.

Foster Pepper & Shefelman

Chuck Wolfe, chair of Foster Pepper & Shefelman's environmental practice group has been elected chair-elect of the Washington State Bar Association Environmental & Land Use Section. He will serve as chair-elect through Fall 2001 and a chair during 2001-2002.

Seattle Children's Theatre

Seattle Children's Theatre announced that local freelance director Rita Giomi, who has a longtime affiliation with the theatre, will be named artistic associate. In this capacity, Giomi will direct mainstage productions, including the theatre's season opener Animal Farm, supervise auditions and backstage events and run the Drama School's Young Actor Institute program.

SvR Design Company

SvR Design Company has hired several new employees.

Leland Leahy, who has more than 10 years of professional experience, joins SvR as CADD manager.

Laura Grignon has joined the firm as a design engineer. Her projects include the Pierce County Environmental Services Building, Palisades Retreat Center and Growing Vine Street.

Rochelle Winther is a project assistant. She is providing project administration for two major Seattle Housing Authority redevelopment projects -- NewHolly and Rainier Vista.

Laura Preftes, business development manager, has been named associate. SvR is a Seattle-based civil engineering and landscape architecture firm.

Tana Gall has been promoted to the position of vice president of marketing at Leisure Care, a Bellevue-based assisted living company. Gall will be responsible for establishing the company's marketing philosophy and policies and developing objectives for marketing and sales programs.

Imagio

Imagio, a Seattle-based marketing and communications company, has announced three new hires. James Martin comes from Parallel Communications and Philip Shaw from Tip Top Creative to Imagio as senior graphic designers. Debbie Kapsner joins the company as an account executive. She previously worked for Microsoft's home and retail division.

The Rockey Co.

Jennifer Simmons Goldstone has been named senior account executive for The Rockey Co., a Seattle-based public relations company. Goldstone will assist clients in managing stakeholder relationships through strategic public relations, internal and external communications. She is an eight-year veteran of the public relations industry. Janelle Coughran joins the company as an assistant account executive. Coughran will support media relations and public affairs campaigns.

ELF

ELF, a Seattle-based software and services provider for insurance claims departments, corporate law departments and law firms, has promoted Tom Melling to vice president and general counsel. Melling will be responsible for analyzing the legal issues arising in the e-commerce sector, such as security, licensing, digital signatures and privacy.

Financial Security Group

Financial Security Group, a Bellevue-based affiliate of Moss Adams providing financial planning and asset management services, has added to it’s investment management department by hiring George Taylor as chief investment officer. Taylor has been an advisor with Financial Security Group for three years and he brings 17 years of investment experience managing equity and fixed income portfolios for individuals, businesses, retirement plans and non-profit organizations.
