Bogart Golf, a Bellevue-based golf instruction company, has hired PGA Master Professional Charles Notestone to oversee instruction at its Redmond Town Center training facility. Notestone is former head professional at Ruby Hill Golf Club in Pleasanton, Calif. He is one of only 200 of the country's 15,000 PGA professionals rated Master Professional, the highest level attainable for golf professionals.
Pierce College District 11 has received several matching grants, including $139,000 from Intel and funds from Washington's Workforce Development, to put core computer courses online. This is in addition to 35 other credit-bearing distance learning courses offered for the fall quarter beginning Sept. 20
Bellevue's Sherman Homes has promoted Paul Underwood to general manager. He was previously operations manager for the company's Oregon and Washington divisions. Underwood has 17 years of industry experience, including stints as director of operations at American Pacific Communities in Vancouver and construction vice president for Polygon Northwest. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Western Michigan University.

Jeanne Anderson has been selected the first executive director of the Washington Early Learning Foundation. Anderson is currently executive director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of King and Pierce Counties
The Seattle Times made two senior staff changes. Michael Lemke vice president for advertising, is being promoted to senior vice president of sales. Cynthia Nash, director of content development, is being promoted to director of brand and content development.
ELF, a Seattle-based legal technology company, named Don Murray to the position of CEO, in addition to his current responsibilities as company president. He has been there for five years, after leaving his practice as managing partner of the law firm Bullivant Houser Bailey to join ELF. Current CEO and Chairman Wynton Dunford will step down to pursue other interests but remain on the board of directors. The company is searching for a new chief operating officer.
International Absorbents, a Bellingham-based developer and producer of environmentally friendly pet care and industrial products, announced that Gordon Walker will head up sales for the company's laboratory animal bedding product line. He is former sales and marketing manager for Canbrands International Ltd. International Absorbents develops, manufactures and markets consumer and commercial products made from recycled, renewable materials.
Orly Steinberg has joined the Northwest Hospital staff as an OB/GNY. She is located in the North Seattle Women's Group.
Stan Kott has been appointed general manager of Hotel Edgewater. He held several key positions with Kimpton Group Hotels and also opened the Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie as executive assistant manager.
The Omaha-based Scoular Co. has expanded its operations to the Northwest with an office in Portland. Scoular markets a range of agricultural products and services. Randy Schmidt will be the manager of the new office, trading primarily in white wheat.
Brenda Snyder has opened a new store in La Conner called Artful Living on South First Street. The store features home decor and gifts. She was formerly a co-owner of the La Conner Gallery.
