Governor Gary Locke recently accepted a national award on behalf of Washington State's Agency Council on Coordinated Transportation. The Federal Transit Administration award recognizes the state's commitment to improving transportation for older adults, low income families and citizens with disabilities.
Veterinary Specialty Center recently opened at 20115 44th Ave. W. in Lynnwood. The 18,000-square-foot center's features include an exotic pet ward.

Regional public accounting firm Moss Adams has contracted Jeffrey B. Van Duzer to evaluate the company's efforts to build ethical standards for partners, managers and employees. Van Duzer is an associate professor and dean of Seattle Pacific University School of Business and Economics. The company has 18 offices in Washington, Oregon, and California.
Bellevue-based SeaTab Software appointed Jeff Chale as vice president of sales. SeaTab's software tool, PivotLink, enables businesses to track trends and monitor performance.

The 2,500-square-foot Seattle Mariners Team Store at Bellevue Square reopened yesterday. Remodeling added a Mariners compass rose on the entryway floor and a large curved wall to frame the interior.
Old World Marketplace, a retail and wholesale importer of furniture and garden accessories, will celebrate its grand opening in SoDo on Saturday, March 6, at 2901 First Ave. S. The 9,000-square-foot store will specialize in products from Mexico and South America including furniture, hand-forged ironwork, carved stone and marble. The founder and owner is Martin Irland.
Data I/O, a provider of manual and automated device programming systems for engineering and manufacturing operations, appointed Joseph L. Murdica vice president of Americas and Asia. Murdica will manage the company's sales organization. He was director of North American Sales at Data I/O from 1991 to 1996. Data I/O has representatives and distributors throughout the Americas and Asia as well as offices in Redmond, Canada, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
James C. Bean will succeed Philip Romero as dean of the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business at Oregon. Bean was associate dean for academic affairs and a professor of industrial and operations engineering at the University of Michigan. He has a doctorate in operations research from Stanford University.
Gov. Gary Locke has appointed Port Townsend lawyer Craddock Verser to the Jefferson County Superior Court. Verser, who served as a public defender in both Stevens and Jefferson counties before going into private practice, will succeed the late Judge Thomas Majhan. Verser graduated from the University of Virginia and Gonzaga Law School, and was admitted to the bar in 1980.
