Seattle-based Hidden City Games hired Judy Sorenson as chief operating officer. Sorenson has worked with Wizards of the Coast, Advanced H2O and Vectra Technologies. Hidden City Games is the licensor of Bellar Sara for worldwide distribution outside of Scandinavia.
The Seattle law firm Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland announced Thomas H. Grimm has joined the firm as of counsel attorney. Grimm specializes in commercial and complex business transactions and litigation.
Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels said Germaine Covington, director of the Seattle Office for Civil Rights, will retire in June after 29 years of city service. Covington became the office director in 1994. “Germaine has left her mark on almost every aspect of city government,” Nickels said. Nickels named Julie Nelson acting director.
The city of Kent announced two personnel changes in the mayor's office. Michelle Witham was promoted to community and public affairs manager. She was the neighborhood program manager. Toni Azzola is the new neighborhood program coordinator. Azzola was the neighborhood coordinator for the city of SeaTac.

Seattle-based Purdie Rogers, an advertising and public relations agency, hired Harleen Mroke as internal accountant and promoted Amber Hargett to digital production artist. Mroke worked in corporate finance for UPS. Hargett was hired in 2005 as the agency's receptionist and office manager.
Three people from Allstate Insurance Co.'s Northwest Region have received the 2006 Allstate Key Manager award: Cindy Hill, John Miller and Steve Peters. The award recognizes leaders who have accomplished sales goals throughout the year. Allstate is a national personal lines insurer.
The Seattle office of law firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis (K&L Gates) announced W. David Shenk is a new partner in the intellectual property and patent litigation practice. Shenk was with Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness. K&L Gates has 22 offices in North America, Europe and Asia.

Lonview-based Longview Fiber Paper and Packaging announced Jack H. Newton has been promoted to manage the paper and paperboard export sales program. Newton has been with the company since 1990 and has a bachelor of arts degree in Japanese language from the University of Oregon.
