The Downtown Seattle Association hired Randy Hurlow as director of communications. Hurlow has 20 years of public relations and marketing communications experience and spent the last six years as public relations manager for REI.
Paladin Data Systems Corp. in Poulsbo hired Jonathan Byrd. Byrd will work with products and software solutions for country and city groups.
The Sheraton Seattle Hotel promoted Shelby Howe to director of group sales. She will oversee the group sales managers with a total revenue responsibility of $36 million annually. Howe has worked with Starwood Hotels and Resorts since 1992
GA Creative, a graphic design and marketing firm in Bellevue, hired Jeremy Parton to the design team. Parton has 15 years experience and has worked with clients including Microsoft, Nordstrom and Starbucks.

KeyBank promoted Tim McLaughlin and Stanford M. Brown. McLaughlin is now senior vice president and business banking sales leader for the South Puget Sound District. He will lead the Business Banking North Team. Brown is now market manager for KeyBank's private banking office in Seattle. Both have 20 years of banking experience.
The Seattle office of law firm Davis Wright Tremaine has established a new position, manager of diversity initiatives, to develop the firm's diversity goals and strategies. Karen K. Russell, an employment law and corporate diversity attorney at DWT, will fill this new role. Russell will develop diversity best practices.
Seattle-based Recreational Equipment promoted Michelle Clements, Matt Hyde, Brian Unmacht and Catherine Walker. Clements is senior vice president of human resources and has been at REI since 2004. Hyde is executive vice president of merchandising and marketing and has been at REI since 1985. Unmacht is executive vice president of sales, service, store development and logistics and has been at REI since 1986. Walker is senior vice president of legal, general counsel and corporate secretary and joined REI in 2006 after serving on REI's board of directors since 1998.

The health plan division of Group Health Cooperative hired Brenda Bruns as executive medical director. Bruns was chief medical officer for Health Net Health Plan of Oregon.
Kirkland-based Electronic Evidence Discovery, an eDiscovery solutions company, hired Jeff Beard as senior consultant. Beard was the legal services IT manager with Caterpillar.
Nyhus Communications, a Seattle-based public relations and public affairs firm, hired Laura McLeod as an account manager. McLeod will focus on real estate, community development and hospitality clients. She worked at Snohomish County.
