Washington State University

Steven L. Hoch, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky, has been selected as the new provost and executive vice president of Washington State University. Hoch succeeds Robert Bates, who announced in January that he would be stepping down after six years as provost.

World Trade Center Tacoma

The World Trade Center Tacoma hired James McMahan as its executive director. McMahan worked with the Gordon Thomas Honeywell Governmental Affairs office. He replaces Andreas Udbye, who left the post to pursue other endeavors.

City of SeaTac

The city of SeaTac promoted Todd Cutts from economic development manager to assistant city manager. Cutts will be responsible for providing multi-departmental coordination and support for the city manager, serving as a liaison with the Port of Seattle, and coordinating the city's legislative agenda.

Continental

Continental, a Seattle-based moving and storage company, is now an agent of Mayflower Transit in the Puget Sound area. Continental has operated for 56 years. Continental will become a shareholder in UniGroup, the St. Louis-based parent of Mayflower Transit.

UW Bothell

The University of Washington Bothell hired Richard Penny as vice chancellor for advancement and external relations. Penny has 12 years experience in advancement at the director level. He was interim executive director for advancement at the Seattle Community College District and executive director of fund development at South Seattle Community College at the same time.

ATG Stores

Kirkland-based ATG Stores hired Mark Mills as vice president of retail operations and Michael Pinkowski as director of marketing. Mills has 20 years experience and recently led Mills Music, a music retail chain with 12 store locations. Pinkowski was chief operating officer at iFLOOR.com. ATG Stores is the parent company of 22 home furnishings related e-commerce sites and 12 showrooms in the state.

First Sound Bank

First Sound Bank hired Sean Biermanski as a vice president and relationship manager. Biermanski has 18 years experience in sales, insurance and banking. He was a regional leasing manager with Key Equipment Finance in Seattle and Tacoma.

Woodstone Credit Union

Federal Way-based Woodstone Credit Union said Human Resource Manager Jane Parker has been appointed to the Human Resource Steering Committee of the Northwest Financial Association Trust.

Frause

Seattle-based communications firm Frause made two promotions and five new hires. Nicole Phelan was promoted to account executive. Josh Chaitin was promoted to vice president/sustainable practice lead. New employees are Nichole Shell, Laura Gese, Christina Starr, Sarah Murphy and Laura Brown.
