Lard Butt, an apparel company that celebrates “below-average athletes,” has launched a Web site and online store at http://www.lardbutt.com. Lard Butt-branded merchandise will be introduced this year and comes in sizes ranging from small to XXXL. The Web site also features a LardBlog discussion and news forum. The company was started by a group of athletes in Seattle, Portland and Montana.
BIGink, a Seattle-based custom and large-format printing company, hired Christy Bone as an account executive in the outside sales department. Bone spent 17 years in sales and marketing communications and has worked with Dream Dinners and Cyrk.
Adaptive Engineering, a developer of enterprise applications, has opened a Seattle office. The office will focus on business development and growth. Raj Chilakapati, VP of client delivery, oversees the office.
UW Tacoma hired Joshua Knudson as vice chancellor for advancement. Knudson was vice president for development and alumni relations at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico.

Bank of Washington announced Larry Houk will become chief executive officer and president upon the retirement of Gary Schmitt, the bank's founding CEO. Houk has been president and chief operating officer for the past two years. The bank operates in Edmonds, Mukilteo and Lynnwood in south Snohomish County and will soon open a branch on Everett Mall Way.
Law firm Dorsey & Whitney said Lisa Marchese, a partner in its Seattle office, has been named to the board of trustees for Washington Defense Trial Lawyers. Marchese is the head of the Dorsey Seattle Trial Group.
The Salish Lodge & Spa in Snoqualmie hired Melanie Silver as spa director. Silver worked for The Ritz-Carlton in St. Thomas, USVI, for seven years.
Nyhus Communications hired Chelsea Waliser as an account executive on its public affairs team and Josh Dill as an account coordinator, new media. Waliser worked as a field director with the Washington State Campaign for Change. Dill oversaw the new media efforts for the Rossi for Governor 2008 campaign. Nyhus also promoted Jon Misola to account coordinator, new media.
