Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau

Kurkjian

Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau hired Kate Kurkjian as director of convention services. Kurkjian was director of conference services for Columbia Hospitality and previously worked for the Fairmont San Francisco.

Socius Law Group

Socius Law Group of Seattle hired Rich Moore and Marni Wright. Both were previously with GordonDerr and will enhance the firm's real estate practice. Moore advises public and private clients in commercial leasing and real property transactions. Wright counsels landlords and tenants in all aspects of office, industrial and retail lease negotiations.

Protectiontech

Redmond-based Protectiontech, an equipment installation and service company, promoted Damon Kessler to company president. He was previously regional manager of Utah, based in Salt Lake City. Ryan Reading has been promoted to general manager and will replace Kessler in Utah. Wade Brossow and Steve Puckett will remain company principles while they work on special projects. Dave Wood will remain general manager of the corporate office based in Redmond. The company is also opening a regional office in the Denver area.

U.S. District Court

Jordan Ramis PC, a Vancouver-based law firm, said attorney Russell Garrett has been selected as one of three new lawyer representatives to the Ninth Circuit from the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. The position offers an opportunity to work with jurists from throughout the Ninth Circuit. Garrett is a shareholder in Jordan Ramis and has 23 years of experience with bankruptcy and creditors' rights.

Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs

Kathy Hsieh was named director of Seattle's city cultural partnerships and grants program. Hsieh has worked with the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs since 2003, originally on the community development and outreach team.

American Public Works Association

The American Public Works Association Washington State Chapter elected four new board members to its executive committee: Debbie Sullivan, director of technical services, city of Olympia; Scott Egger, public works director, city of Lacey; Keith Martin, WSDOT Eastern Region local programs engineer; and Lauren Behm, senior marketing coordinator, HDR Engineering. They will serve two-year terms.

One Eighty/Leisure Care

Seattle-based One Eighty/Leisure Care said Jason Childers has been named partner. Childers will continue as senior vice president of Leisure Care retirement communities. He joined the business in 2002. One Eighty is the parent company of Leisure Care and other senior housing and hospitality brands.

Safe Boats International

Safe Boats International of Bremerton named Dana Bradford chairman of the board of directors. Safe Boats is a manufacturer of special purpose vessels for government agencies. Bradford is president and managing partner of McCarthy Capital, a private equity firm based in Omaha, Neb.
