Seattle-based Lane Powell shareholder Katie Matison was presented the Association of Transportation Law Professionals 2012 Presidential Award for her work as chair of the publications committee. Matison became president of the association on June 15. The association is an international organization of attorneys and in-house counsel in marine, rail, air and trucking.
Redmond-based Nintendo of America hired Duncan Orrell-Jones as senior vice president of network business. Orrell-Jones was senior vice president in the Disney Interactive Media Group at The Walt Disney Co., and senior vice president and general manager for Disney Interactive in Tokyo.
Washington State University named John Roll as associate vice provost in graduate education and scholarship for the Division of Health Sciences. Roll is a faculty administrator and researcher for the College of Nursing and will continue as associate dean of faculty affairs with his research in substance abuse.

Seattle-based Lovsted-Worthington hired Wendy Pyle as account executive. Pyle was equity partner, senior vice president of sales and marketing manager with a regional brokerage firm and has more than 20 years of experience in insurance. Lovsted-Worthington is an independent insurance brokerage.
Spokane-based Clearwater Paper hired John Hertz as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Hertz worked as vice president and chief financial officer for Novellus Systems, a semi-conductor manufacturing equipment supplier. Clearwater Paper provides private label tissue to retail grocery chains and manufactures bleached paperboard.
The Port of Kalama hired Mindy Heuer and Jeff Rinck. Heuer is a certified public accountant and will manage accounts and financial reporting. Rinck will oversee maintenance and administrative offices. The Port of Kalama is on the Columbia River.
Bellevue-based Symetra said Jonathan Curley, executive vice president of the life division, is leaving the company this month. Symetra CEO Tom Marra will fill the role until a replacement is found. Symetra provides employee benefits, annuities and life insurance.

KCTS 9 and KYVE 47 announced the retirement of general manager Ken Messer. Prior to joining KYVE, he was vice president and general manager of KIMA/KEPR/KLEW TV and KKFQ. He recently was awarded the Helen N. Jewett Community Leadership Award by United Way of Central Washington.
Tacoma-based Meracord hired Doug Byerley as chief operations officer. Byerley has 30 years of experience in the industry and previously led product management at TSYS, a Georgia-based payment services firm. Meracord is a third-party contract payment services company specializing in accounts receivable, ACH processing and payment processing, formerly known as NoteWorld.
Vancouver-based Riverview Community Bank promoted Richard “Dick” Michalek as executive vice president and chief lending officer by the board of directors. Michalek has been an 11-year Riverview Community Bank employee with 40 years of banking experience. Riverview Community Bank is a full service bank with 18 locations in Washington and Oregon.
Seattle-based Globys hired Olly Downs as senior vice president of data sciences. Downs was chief scientist at AdReady and Atigeo, and principal scientist at Inriz. Globys helps clients leverage and monetize customer data, with offices in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
