D.A. Davidson

Nelson

Montana-based D.A. Davidson hired James Nelson as senior vice president and public finance banker in the fixed income capital markets group in Seattle. Nelson was senior municipal underwriter for Martin Nelson & Co. D.A. Davidson is an employee-owned brokerage firm.

Pierce County District Court

Pierce County District Court judges elected Maggie Ross as presiding judge for the next two years. Ross has served on the district court bench for 15 years. Judge Pat O'Malley, who was presiding judge the last two years, will be assistant presiding judge for the 2013-14 term.

Foster Pepper

Seattle-based Foster Pepper hired Stephanie Weir as an associate in the land use and environmental group. Weir was an associate at Short Cressman & Burgess. Foster Pepper is a full-service, 120-attorney law firm with offices in Seattle and Spokane.

Pierce County Superior Court

Pierce County Superior Court added three judges: Stan J. Rumbaugh, Jack F. Nevin and Jerry T. Costello. Rumbaugh serves on the board of governors for the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association. Nevin was appointed to the Pierce County District Court bench in 1997 and Costello has worked as Pierce County deputy prosecutor since 1989.

World Affairs Council of Seattle

The board of trustees of the World Affairs Council of Seattle named Jennifer Teunon as interim president and chief executive officer. Teunon was senior consultant with Luma Consulting and has worked in the nonprofit sector for 20 years. She was acting executive director for the Medina Foundation.

South Sound 911

The South Sound 911 Policy Board confirmed Lakewood city manager Andrew Neiditz as the first executive director of the new public safety agency. Neiditz has more than 25 years of senior executive experience in local government and has been Lakewood city manager since 2005.

Department of Information Technology

Mayor Mike McGinn appointed Erin Devoto as director of the Department of Information Technology. Devoto has worked as acting chief technology officer and acting director of the Department of Information Technology since May 2012, where she previously served as the deputy director since 2007.

University of Washington School of Nursing

University of Washington president Michael Young and provost Ana Mari Cauce announced the selection of Azita Emami as the new dean of the UW School of Nursing effective July 1, 2013. Emami has been dean at Seattle University since 2008. Her career has includes seven years at the Karolinska Institutet of Stockholm, Sweden where she still holds positions as senior researcher and doctoral-candidate supervisor.

Charles & Charles Wines

Charles Smith of K Vintners and Charles Smith Wines, and Charles Bieler of Three Thieves, Bieler Père et Fils & Gotham Project, said they have formed an alliance with Trinchero Family Estates of St. Helena, Calif., to manage sales, distribution and marketing for their joint wine venture Charles & Charles. This is the first Washington state brand for TFE. Smith and Bieler will continue to direct winemaking and bottle wines in the Columbia Valley.
