Ryan Davis is a new dean at Everett Community College, leading the Business, Advanced Technology, North and East County Division. Davis was executive director of the Regional Education and Training Center in Elma, a nonprofit focused on filling jobs in energy, advanced manufacturing and sustainable building sectors.
Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Tacoma will open on Thursday. The franchise owner is Gary Depping. He opened his first Dickey's Barbecue in Auburn in 2012 and plans to open a third in 2014. Dickey's in Tacoma is at 8425 S Hosmer St., across the street from Red Lion Inn. Dickey's was founded by Travis Dickey and now has more than 350 locations in 43 states.
Porch.com, a home improvement network, hired three executives: Peter Baltaxe, Kiran Akkineni and Craig Cincotta. CEO Matt Ehrlichman said he expects to quadruple the size of the company in the next year. Former CEO and co-founder of RedEnvelope, Baltaxe is the vice president of product management. Akkineni is director of analytics. He oversaw analytics at zulily. Cincotta is vice president of communications. He worked at Microsoft leading the Kinect for Xbox 360 launch campaign. Porch.com connects homeowners and renters with home service professionals.

University House Issaquah named Lynda Krill as executive director. She was senior general manager for a retirement community in Monroe, and has served on the boards of Valley General Hospital and Snohomish County Council on Aging. University House Issaquah is one of eight Era Living retirement communities.


Frause, a Seattle-based communications firm, hired Alaska native Emily Trickey as senior account executive. Trickey was communications director for an economic development firm in Anchorage. Nathan Hambley was promoted to vice president media relations. Hambley served as a legislative correspondent and campaign organizer for U.S. Senator Patty Murray.
Williams Helde Marketing Communications is moving from Queen Anne to a temporary location while its new building is renovated. The temporary address is 1455 N.W. Leary Way, No. 405. Phone number and emails are the same.
The Swedish Medical Center Foundation received $10.1 million from the estate of Robert and Jean Reid for cancer and cardiac care at Swedish. They owned Reid Sand and Gravel in Bellevue and were active philanthropists in nursing and children's health programs. Funds from the gift will be distributed over many years.

State Senator Mark Schoesler and Representative Judy Warnick were awarded Honorary Life Memberships by the Columbia Basin Development League, which said the legislators helped secure the largest state investment ever in the Columbia Basin Project.
The city of Gig Harbor said in the first 90 days on doxo, more than five percent of residents have connected and “gone paperless.” Residents can receive bills, organize account info and make payments directly from a doxo account, either online or with a mobile app. David Rodenbach, finance director for Gig Harbor, said this saves the city money for printing and postage. Seattle-based doxo is backed by Mohr Davidow Ventures, Sigma Partners and Bezos Expeditions.
