King County Council

The Metropolitan King County Council named Lorinda Youngcourt the county's public defender. She will direct the Department of Public Defense, which provides legal services to indigent defendants and employs 400 people, including 225 attorneys, in Seattle and Kent. Youngcourt was chief public defender for Lawrence County in Bedford, Indiana, and chaired the Indiana Public Defender Council.

Northwest African American Museum

Northwest African American Museum said after a national search it has hired Serenity Wise as director of community engagement. Wise has educational and professional experience in the arts and social services here and abroad. She has worked at Christie's in London and Jada Art Gallery in Singapore.

Atigeo

The Bellevue tech company Atigeo named John S. Bliss general counsel and chief privacy officer. He is a “thought leader and strategist” in issues involving law, technology and privacy. Bliss was CEO and founder of Captimo, and also worked at IBM and SRD.

She is a litigator and has counseled clients on environmental and natural resource matters. Doug McIntyre has joined as a land use planner. He led the South Kitsap Industrial Area sub-area plan for Bremerton and was a property planner for Boeing. The law firm has offices in Washington, D.C., and Seattle.

Expeditors International of Washington said James L.K. Wang, Asia Pacific president, director and co-founder, will retire as Asia Pacific president in June but will continue to serve as a director through the 2016 annual shareholders' meeting.

Caplan

Port of Seattle CEO Ted J. Fick named Dave Caplan director of the port's new Office of Strategic Initiatives. Caplan also will direct the Central Procurement Office. He was a senior vice president for the global agricultural company Agco Corp. and held management positions at Paccar. Caplan is trained in LEAN and is a Six Sigma Black Belt.

Seattle Repertory Theatre

Leahey

Seattle Repertory Theatre named Kristin Leahey literary director. Leahey has worked in literary departments at Northlight Theatre in Illinois and Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, D.C.
