Wells Fargo Middle Market Commercial Banking said Karen Fluegge has been promoted to regional vice president of the Bellevue Middle Market Commercial Banking region, which covers eastern King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and San Juan counties. Fluegge succeeds Don Grant, a 39-year Wells Fargo veteran, who is retiring. Her 19-person team serves companies with revenues greater than $20 million. She was senior vice president and head of business development for Middle Market Commercial Banking in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Karen LaFlamme is retiring after handling public relations for the Washington State Fair for 30 years. Stacy Howard, formerly with Seattle Public Schools, is the fair's new public relations manager.
Derek Brandes will succeed current Walla Walla Community College President Steven VanAusdle, who is retiring this summer. Brandes is vice president at Green River Community College and was a dean at Columbia Basin College.
Governor Jay Inslee appointed Dr. Rachelle Sharpe acting executive director of Washington Student Achievement Council, effective July 1. She replaces retiring Executive Director Dr. Gene Sharratt. The cabinet-level state agency provides planning, oversight and advocacy on educational issues.

Vamshi Reddy has joined Lane Powell as an attorney in the litigation practice group. Reddy focuses on securities and complex commercial litigation, data privacy, and white collar criminal and civil defense. She worked for Oregon's Department of Consumer and Business Services, and was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York.
JND Legal Administration, a business outsourcing firm focused on management and administration of large-scale class action, bankruptcy and mass tort claims, named Amanda Horn senior vice president of client services. Horn has spent more than 20 years in leadership roles at Garden City Group, and Gilardi & Co., and also was an attorney with Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro.

Skagit Bank hired Teresa Wyman in the Ballard office as vice president and commercial loan officer. She has been in banking for 12 years and lives in Ballard. Skagit Bank also opened a new loan production office at 5704 Evergreen Way in Everett and plans to expand in Snohomish County. The office vice presidents and commercial loan officers are Kathy Klier, Jason Shirley and Jim Calderon. The residential real estate loan officer is Matt Barber and the credit analyst is Anthony Galvan. This is Skagit Bank's fourteenth office.
Hayley Thompson is the new Skagit County coroner. She replaces Daniel Dempsey, who retired in March. Thompson's appointment runs through the end of the year. She must run for reelection in November.
