King County

The Metropolitan King County Council named Deborah Jacobs director of the Office of Law Enforcement Oversight, an independent government agency that reviews complaints about the Sheriff's Office's policies and practices. Jacobs has served in leadership positions for the American Civil Liberties Union and Ms. Foundation for Women. Jacobs was executive director for the ACLU of New Jersey for 13 years.

Estate Planning Council of Seattle

The Estate Planning Council of Seattle has new officers for 2016-2017. Kurt Olson of Fahlman Olson & Little is president. Immediate past president is P. Gerry Maurer with Northwestern Mutual. Ronald Nagle with Peterson Sullivan is president-elect. Carla Wigen of Wells Fargo Private Bank is treasurer, and Kathryn Garrison of Moss Adams Wealth Advisors is secretary.

Pacific Northwest College of Art

Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland named Dr. Donald L. Tuski its new president. Tuski has been president and a professor of anthropology at Maine College of Art. PNCA recently moved to center its campus on the North Park Blocks and launched the Center for Contemporary Art & Culture.

Seattle Public Schools

Seattle Public Schools hired JoLynn Berge as chief financial officer, filling the position vacated by Kenneth Gotsch. Berge will oversee the department of finance: budget, payroll, grants, accounting, purchasing and contracts as well as audit response. She will also be involved with financial matters related to human resources. She was with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction as CFO and assistant superintendent.

VRstudios

VRstudios in Bellevue named Kevin Vitale executive vice president of international operations. He has worked at tech companies in Silicon Valley and Seattle, and been CEO for emerging companies as well as global organizations serving the Fortune 500. VRstudios offers VR services for entertainment and commercial enterprises.

Washington State Library

Secretary of State Kim Wyman has appointed Cindy Aden director of the Washington State Library. Aden is a former president of the Washington Library Association and has worked at Amazon, Corbis and community newspapers. The state library also operates the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library in Seattle, and libraries in state prisons and mental hospitals.

The Point Casino & Hotel

Noo-Kayet Development Corp. and Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe hired David N. Malone to direct hotel operations for The Point Casino & Hotel when it opens late this year. He has decades of experience in management at Holiday and Marriott, including new properties and struggling hotels. He worked for Shee Atika Inc., the urban Native corporation for Sitka and was executive director for the Port of Kingston. The 94-room in North Kitsap County will be adjacent to The Point Casino.

OfferUp, a Bellevue-based mobile marketplace for local buying and selling, hired Peter Wilson as vice president of engineering. Wilson has led engineering teams for Facebook and Google in Washington. OfferUp recently hired its 90th employee, up from 30 this time last year.

Seattle Center

Joe Paganelli has been named manager of Marion Oliver McCaw Hall at Seattle Center. He has over 20 years' experience in the entertainment business starting in San Francisco in the early 1990s at Bill Graham Presents, now Live Nation. He was coordinator/manager of Sony Pictures TV Music Group and worked for the ticketing company Flavorus. McCaw Hall had 344 events last year.
