Intellectual Property Owners

The Intellectual Property Owners association (IPO) has recognized its Copyright Law and Anti-Piracy Committee, on which Lane Powell Shareholder Katherine C. Spelman serves as vice chair, for the 2016 “Outstanding Committee of the Year Award.” The award has been given in recognition of outstanding service in promoting reliable, effective and up-to-date intellectual property systems since 2003. Committee members are appointed by the IPO president. Spelman is a member of Lane Powell's Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group and has more than 30 years of experience providing strategic advice, design and implementation counsel for companies on copyright, trademark, trade secret and patent matters.

Demarche Consulting Group

Demarche Consulting Group has been selected for the 2016 Washington Excellence Award by the American Economic Institute (AEI). Each year the AEI conducts business surveys and industry research to identify companies that have achieved demonstrable success in their local business environment and industry category. The firms are recognized as having enhanced the commitment and contribution of small businesses through service to their customers and community.

Riddell Williams said Laura Hansen has joined the Litigation Practice Group. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Benjamin H. Settle of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Paseo

Ryan Santwire said he will open Paseo Capitol Hill at 925 E. Pike St., in a space next to the music club Neumos that used to be Pike Street Fish Fry. Paseo Capitol Hill will offer Caribbean-infused food. Santwire recently opened Paseo SoDo at 1760 First Ave. S. Paseo Fremont is at 4225 Fremont Ave. N.

Ogden Murphy Wallace

Ogden Murphy Wallace has added Andrew Sachs as a member. He is an experienced litigator and trial lawyer, who worked as a TV news reporter before going to law school. Sachs handles complex commercial cases for tech companies, consumer products firms and financial institutions. He also was president of QLaw, the GLBT bar association for the state of Washington.

Clark Nuber

Clark Nuber promoted four principals: Shelly Archuleta, Joe Haberzetle, Jennifer Mace and Christie Streit. The accounting firm also promoted five senior managers: Victoria Kitts, Moses Man, Bryce Rassilyer, Kaman Shiu and Mandy Statz.

Seattle Genetics

Seattle Genetics announced two promotions and an appointment to the company's clinical development leadership team. Vaughn B. Himes, Ph.D., has been promoted to chief technical officer. Dennis Benjamin, Ph.D., has been promoted to senior vice president for translational research. Robert J. Lechleider, M.D., was appointed senior vice president for clinical development.

Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine

The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University added four administrators: Danny Teraguchi is associate dean of student affairs, Ann Poznanski is associate dean of curriculum, Ralitsa Akins is associate dean of faculty talent, recognition and enhancement, and Dawn Cooper is interim assistant dean of medical student scholarship.
