First Sound Bank said Neeru Atreya has joined as vice president of private banking. She was with Union Bank in Seattle. Lisa Cleary was promoted to senior vice president and credit administrator. Cleary joined First Sound Bank in 2015, and has been vice president of credit administration. First Sound serves small- to medium-sized businesses, organizations, not-for-profits and professionals.
Sharon Pian Chan has been named vice president of innovation, product and development for The Seattle Times. She worked as a reporter covering global institutions in Seattle such as Microsoft and T-Mobile. This new position will focus on developing non-traditional funding for journalism, and creating new products and services for digital, engagement and print platforms. Chan is now director of journalism initiatives and deputy managing editor for audience development.

Next spring, REI will open a new store in Dillon, Colo., 65 miles west of Denver and within 25 miles of six large ski areas. REI said there are more than 365,000 co-op members in the state. The 25,000-square-foot store will be at US Highway 6 and Dillon Dam Road. It will be the ninth REI store in Colorado.
Fran Korten has announced her successor to lead YES! Magazine. Christine Hanna, founder and current co-director of Seattle Good Business Network, will take over March 1 as publisher and executive director of the Bainbridge-based nonprofit national publication. YES also hired Bill Buzenberg as vice president and director of strategic initiatives.

Dianne Goddard has been appointed to fill a vacant District Court judgeship by the Skagit County Board of Commissioners. The appointment is effective Jan. 1. Goddard is District Court commissioner and was one of two finalists for the position. Former District Court Judge David Svaren was confirmed as the winner of the election for Superior Court judge, position 3, on Nov. 29, which created the District Court judge, position 2, vacancy

BECU, Washington's largest community credit union, opened its first Neighborhood Financial Center in Burien at 508 S.W. 152nd St. The 2,256-square-foot center is adjacent to Town Park and Burien Library, and has a “tellerless” layout. BECU has more than 45 locations in the Washington.



Perkins Coie named three partners to leadership positions, including two who will lead national practice groups. Katie O'Sullivan was named chair of the national Commercial Litigation practice, Karen McGaffey is chair of the national Environment, Energy and Resources practice, and Cori Gordon Moore leads the Commercial Litigation practice in Seattle. O'Sullivan is based in Seattle and became a partner in 2004. McGaffey is also based in Seattle, and has practiced environmental law for more than 25 years. Moore became a partner in 2007. She focuses on complex commercial cases. Perkins Coie has more than 1,000 lawyers in 19 offices.
