Seattle International Film Festival

Beth Barrett, former director of programming, has been named SIFF's new artistic director. Barrett was named interim artistic director last October, and led the organization's 43rd film festival. She began her career at SIFF in 2003, in the publications department as a volunteer copy editor. She became programming manager, and then director of programming in 2011.

Tour Operators Program of Safety

Tour Operators Program of Safety named Katherine Hilst executive director, bringing nearly 30 years in the aviation industry. Hilst will refine the way TOPS and its members apply safety risk management principles. She is a certified flight instructor with CFI and CFII ratings, as well as a commercial fixed-wing and helicopter pilot. TOPS members are professional air tour operators.

tiag, The Informatics Applications Group, has made some executive promotions to accelerate growth and expand IT initiatives. Seattle-based Kate Beltran has been promoted to executive director to lead the new Solutions and Innovations Strike Team. Arthur “Charlie” Doutt will oversee daily operations, contractual performance and Information Management Information Technology services as executive director for tiag's military health portfolio. tiag has offices in the Seattle region and Washington, D.C.

Washington State University

Stephanie Hampton, director of WSU's Center for Environmental Research Education and Outreach, was recently named chair of the National Science Foundation's biological sciences advisory committee. It makes recommendations to NSF about research, education and human resources. Hampton joined the committee in 2016.

Skagit Bank elected Dan Peth chairman of the board. He is president of John Peth & Sons and manages a cattle ranch that his family has operated in Skagit County since 1899. Peth has been a Skagit Bank board member for over 17 years. Skagit Bank has offices in Skagit, Snohomish, Whatcom and King counties.

United Way of King County

Angela and Ethan Stowell of Ethan Stowell Restaurants will co-chair the 2017-2018 fundraising campaign for United Way of King County. It kicked off July 1 and runs through June 30, 2018. They are among the youngest co-chairs in United Way's history, and want to bring new approaches to the campaign.

King County Deputy Executive Sung Yang is leaving the Executive's Office to join Pacific Public Affairs as a principal. Yang was responsible for policy development, external and government relations, communications, special projects and staff administration. Rachel Smith will be chief of staff as well as direct strategic initiatives, and coordinate external and internal policy. She was director of government relations in the Executive's Office.

Pacific NorthWest Economic Region

Sen. Arnie Roblan (D-Coos Bay) is the new president of Pacific NorthWest Economic Region, a bi-national advocate for regional, state and territorial economic issues across the region. PNWER is a public-private partnership chartered by Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington, as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and Yukon and the Northwest Territories.
