Seattle-based energy advisory firm EMI Consulting hired Julie Rey as president. Rey was most recently vice president and market lead for global management consulting firm North Highland Consulting. She has held management roles at Strong-Bridge Consulting, Safeco Insurance and Western Wireless. “The nation's energy future is in the middle of a radical shift driven by unprecedented technological innovation, global climate change, and geopolitical uncertainty. We see this as a perfect opportunity for the expansion of our clean energy ‘Utility of the Future' consulting initiatives. Julie's leadership will be instrumental during this time of company growth,” said EMI consulting founder and CEO Rob Bordner.
The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce selected former Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland as president and CEO of the regional business association. Prior to being mayor, Strickland served on the Tacoma City Council and held management positions with the American Cancer Society, Starbucks and JayRay Communications. She also was vice-chair of the Sound Transit board. Strickland takes over on Feb. 19 for Maud Daudon, who is stepping down from leading the association.

Michelle Mares joined startup Glowforge as head of marketing. Mares was director of marketing at Nordstrom Rack and spent eight years in the video game industry prior to that. Seattle-based Glowforge makes 3-D laser printers that cut and etch various materials.

Peter Greenthal is the new CEO and president of Raisbeck Engineering in Seattle. Greenthal previously held leadership roles at industrial companies in California. Raisbeck modifies business and commercial aircraft. It is part of Acorn Growth Companies, a private equity firm investing exclusively in aerospace and defense.
Dave Zeeck is replacing Herb Simon on the University of Washington Board of Regents. Zeeck is president and publisher of The News Tribune in Tacoma, as well as The Olympian and The Bellingham Herald. He also is chair of the advisory board for UW Tacoma and a member of the Executive Council for a Greater Tacoma. Simon was on the board for 12 years.

Tim Claridge and Tony Yee joined Opus Bank as managing directors/senior client managers on the Pacific Northwest commercial banking team. Claridge, a 21-year banking veteran, is responsible for expanding Opus' client base in the Tacoma and Olympia markets. He previously was vice president and commercial loan officer at Columbia Bank. Yee, a 22-year banking and finance veteran, is responsible for expanding Opus' client base in the Seattle/Puget Sound region. He previously was vice president and corporate relationship manager at Umpqua Bank.
Sean Goldfinch joined Goldfinch Bros. as contract administrator in the company's South Everett office. Sean, the son of CEO Greg Goldfinch, is a sixth generation family member at the glass and glazing company. He helped file invoices at the company at a young age, and later worked in the shop as a sawyer and CNC operator and in the office in estimating. Last year, he graduated from Pepperdine University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. “We are very excited to have Sean join our team. Having another sixth-generation member of the Goldfinch family is another milestone and helps to ensure that the legacy of our 126-year-old business will continue for generations to come,'' said Goldfinch President and COO Scott Murphy.

Spokane-based Washington Trust Bank promoted Kevin Blair to president of the Seattle/Bellevue market and Stu Linscott to senior vice president and team leader of the Bellevue Commercial team. Blair joined the bank in 2004 and was most recently commercial team leader for the Seattle office, working with privately held companies and high-net-worth individuals. Linscott has 15 years of commercial banking experience. His clients include contractors, professional service providers and commercial real estate developers.
A new financial planning firm targeting young tech professionals has opened in Seattle. Founded by Chad Rixse and Levi Sanchez, Millennial Wealth also focuses on generations X and Y. Rixse and Sanchez previously worked as financial advisors at large bank-run wealth management firms. They are members of XY Planning Network, which represents fee-only financial planners for younger generations.
