Dana

Karam Dana received the 2018 University of Washington Bothell Distinguished Teaching Award, one of the school's highest honors. Dana is assistant professor in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. He was cited for his courses on social justice, fairness and equality.

Brennan

The Pacific Northwest chapter of British-American Business Connections appointed Jeff Brennan secretary of its board executive committee. Brennan is general counsel and chief privacy officer for Vettd, a Bellevue-based artificial intelligence company. He worked in the telecom field for more than 30 years.

Snohomish PUD

Craig Collar, CEO and general manager of Snohomish County Public Utility District, will retire June 29. Collar has led the PUD for nearly three years, and previously was assistant general manager of power, rates and transmission. He joined the utility in 2006. The PUD expects to appoint an interim CEO/general manager by June 29.

Garvey Schubert Barer

Attorney Cameron K. Smith joined Garvey Schubert Barer as principal in the Seattle office. Smith's practice focuses on securities and corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, complex commercial transactions, and general corporate law. He worked at DLA Piper, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and Deloitte.

Independent Colleges of Washington

Violet A. Boyer, retiring president and CEO of Independent Colleges of Washington, was given the Stanley O. McNaughton Leadership Award by ICW board. Boyer led the association for 20 years. ICW members consist of 10 private nonprofit colleges and universities in the state.

City of Tacoma

Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards in May will attend the Mayors' Institute on Opioids meeting, held by the National League of Cities. Tacoma's five-member delegation will include Conor McCarthy, at-large Tacoma City Council member; Anthony L-T Chen, director of health for Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department; Patti Jackson-Kidder, chief of Pierce County Sheriff's Department Corrections Bureau; and Jason Escareno, senior human services legislative analyst at Pierce County. The meeting location has not been announced.

SAGlobal

Seattle-based SAGlobal is merging with Atlanta-based 360 Vertical Solutions to create a single-source provider of Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions and services to professional services firms. The new entity will operate under the SAGlobal name, but will retain key 360 Vertical Solutions brands, such as AEC360 and Legal360. It will have nearly 600 employees in 18 countries. The merger is expected to close by mid-year.

Base2 Solutions

Boeing awarded Base2 Solutions of Bellevue a Performance Excellence Award. This is the fifth time Base2 has received the honor, which is given to suppliers who meet yearly performance ratings. Base2 provides systems engineering, software application development, DevOps and information security to Boeing's commercial and defense divisions.
