Benaroya Research Institute

McCormick

Dr. Margaret McCormick is the new executive director and COO of Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason. McCormick replaced Homer W. Lane Jr., who retired. BRI also named McCormick as vice president of research at Virginia Mason Medical Center. She previously was the institute's chief administrative officer. Prior to joining BRI, she was CEO of Seattle biotech company Matrix Genetics. The institute advances science that fights immune system diseases.

Sarcos Robotics

Sarcos Robotics appointed retired Adm. Michael S. Rogers to the its strategic advisory board and hired retired Lt. Gen. Stephen Lanza as senior vice president of defense. Rogers is a former National Security Agency director and oversaw the U.S. Cyber Command. Lanza was commanding general of the Army's I Corps at JBLM. Sarcos makes full-body exoskeleton robots for industrial and military applications. It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, with an office in Bellevue.

BitTitan

Bellevue-based BitTitan hired Brad Rosairo as director of business development in the Asia Pacific region. Rosairo was vice president of business development in the Asia Pacific region for Neota Logic. Before that, he was managing director at Corwin Press and held a leadership role at ProQuest. BitTitan helps IT service companies automate cloud technologies.

Quorum

Columbia, Maryland-based Advarra bought Quorum Review IRB, a Seattle provider of institutional review boards. The deal included Quorum's research and technology consulting division Kinetiq. Advarra provides institutional review boards, institutional biosafety committees, and research quality and compliance consulting services to the medical industry.

ExtraHop

McAdam

Former F5 Networks CEO and President John McAdam joined the board of ExtraHop, a Seattle provider of enterprise cyber analytics. McAdam also is on the boards of F5, Tableau Software and Nutanix. Prior to joining F5, he was a leader at IBM and Sequent Computer Systems.

CyrusOne

John McCloskey joined Seattle-based CyrusOne as vice president of hyperscale and cloud sales. McCloskey has 30 years of technology sales experience, with stints at Akamai Technologies, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Oracle and IBM. CyrusOne is a REIT specializing in data centers.

City of Seattle

Seattle Mayor's Office created a new internship honoring local civil rights leader Ruth Woo. The six-month internship allows college students to gain experience researching and developing complex policy proposals. It pays $16.56 an hour and remains open until filled. Treehouse

Nonprofit Treehouse is expanding its Graduation Success program to Benton, Franklin, Skagit, Thurston and Whatcom counties. The program started in 2012 in King County and expanded to Pierce, Spokane and Snohomish counties. It helps youth in foster care graduate from high school.
