The University of Washington Bothell appointed Gowri Shankar as interim vice chancellor for planning and administration. Shankar is a longtime faculty member in the School of Business who teaches finance, accounting and economics. He will replace Ruth A. Johnston when she leaves in August to become chief strategic financial officer for the New Mexico State University system.
Nathaniel Pieper will join Alaska Airlines in August as senior vice president of fleet, finance and alliances. Pieper worked for 20 years in aircraft, commercial, financial and strategic roles at Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines. He is relocating from Paris.

Bellevue-based BitTitan hired Dr. Uzma S. Burki as vice president and chief human resources officer. Burki has over 20 years of business and HR experience. She was an HR executive with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and has held similar roles with Battelle, Amtrak and American Red Cross. BitTitan helps IT service companies automate cloud technologies.
In Seattle, Neighborhood House appointed Janice Deguchi as executive director of the social service agency. Deguchi is executive director of Community for Youth. Prior to that, she was COO of Keiro Northwest and executive director of Denise Louie Education Center. Deguchi will start in September, following the retirement of Mark Okazaki, who has led the organization for 19 years.

Matt Hill returned to KeyBank in Seattle as market president. Hill was market president of commercial banking for Union Bank in the Pacific Northwest. Before that, he worked for nearly seven years at KeyBank, as a director and managing director with KeyBanc Capital Markets. He succeeds Carol K. Nelson, who retired last month. KeyBank is based in Cleveland.
Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank on Sept. 20 will close its branch in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The move is part of the bank's plan to consolidate operations and improve efficiency. Customer accounts will automatically be transferred to the Lake Grove branch, which is about 3 miles away.
Capt. Dianna Wolfson is the new commander of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Bremerton. Wolfson replaces Capt. Howard Markle, who has lead the shipyard since 2015.

In Seattle, Zipwhip hired Faye Ricci as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Ricci has over two decades of transactional, operational and risk experience at major national law firms. She also was a vice president at both Bank of America Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan Chase Bank. Zipwhip is a cloud software company for business texting.

Brad Brotherton, owner of Brotherton Cadillac Buick GMC in Renton, was named 2019-20 president of the Washington State Auto Dealers Association. Founded in 1920, the association has 294 dealer members.
Andrea “Andy” Schneider was promoted to senior vice president of people at Alaska Airlines and Matt Prainito was promoted to vice president of station and inflight operations for Horizon Air. Schneider was vice president of inflight and call center services. She began her career at Alaska in 1989 as manager of financial accounting. Prainito was managing director of station operations. He joined Alaska in 1997 as a customer service agent in Los Angeles.
Industrial Scientific, a subsidiary of Everett-based Fortive, signed a deal to acquire Intelex Technologies for about $570 million. Toronto-based Intelex develops web and mobile software for environmental health safety and quality management. Pittsburgh-based Industrial Scientific develops connected sensing technology. Fortive is a professional instruments and industrial technologies company.
