Vanbarton Group, a privately owned real estate investment and advisory firm, announced the installation of the NeedlePoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) system at 901 Fifth Avenue, the first high-rise implementation in Seattle. The installation of NPBI at the downtown Seattle office tower is part of Vanbarton's efforts to enhance its buildings' air quality and help reduce the transmission of airborne illnesses, such as the novel coronavirus. NPBI technology is integrated into buildings' HVAC systems. Vanbarton has corporate offices in New York City, San Francisco and Seattle.
Fortive announced that it has completed the separation of its industrial technologies segment through the spin-off of Vontier.
Approximately 134.9 million shares of Vontier common stock were distributed in the separation to Fortive shareholders, with approximately 33.5 million additional shares of Vontier common stock retained by Fortive. Fortive, headquartered in Everett, is a diversified industrial growth company, with of approximately 17,000 employees in more than 50 countries around the world.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded a contract to TriWest Healthcare Alliance to administer VA's Community Care Network (CCN) in Region 5, which covers the state of Alaska. Under the CCN Region 5 contract, TriWest will be responsible for building and maintaining a network of community health care providers, paying claims, and providing customer service to VA and providers in the state of Alaska. TriWest Healthcare Alliance is based in Phoenix.
Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCS Northwest) and Compass Housing Alliance (Compass) have signed a non-binding Letter of Intent for Compass to become an affiliate of LCS Northwest. An affiliation would create one of the region's largest non-profit alliances providing support to people experiencing homelessness, and under-served populations in the Pacific Northwest. Combined, the organizations serve more than 50,000 people each year and employ more than 800 people in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. The execution of a definitive agreement is subject to the approval of the LCS Northwest and Compass Board of Directors, and closing conditions. Under than anticipated agreement, Compass will operate as a separate subsidiary of LCS Northwest, with LCS Northwest the parent organization.

PACCAR and several of its divisions: Peterbilt, Kenworth, PACCAR Parts and Dynacraft, were each honored as a 2020 “Top Company for Women to Work for in Transportation” by the Women in Trucking Association (WIT). Women in Trucking is a non-profit organization that encourages the employment and promotes the accomplishments of women in the trucking industry. WIT solicited nominations for companies with a culture that supports gender diversity, flexible hours, competitive compensation and benefits, training, professional development and career advancement opportunities. Employees and business partners voted to determine the honorees.
Ernst & Young announced that Peggy Miller, CEO of PacStar, a developer and supplier of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense, was named an Entrepreneur Of The Year 2020 Pacific Northwest Region Award winner. The award recognizes those entrepreneurial leaders who are excelling in overcoming adversity; financial performance; societal impact and commitment to building a values-based company; innovation; and talent management. Spacelabs Healthcare, a developer and manufacturer of patient monitoring and diagnostic cardiology solutions, announced that the company has been inducted into the Space Technology Hall of Fame for its remote health monitoring technology for NASA astronauts. Spacelabs Healthcare, a division of OSI Systems, is headquartered in Snoqualmie, and has offices in the United States, Canada and Europe, and distributors in more than 100 countries around the world.

Kirkland-based Ziply Fiber, which acquired the Northwest territory of Frontier Communications earlier this year, has hired Mike Doherty as its new chief marketing officer. Doherty spent the last 19 years as president of advertising agency Cole & Weber.
Avalara, a provider of tax compliance automation for businesses of all sizes, acquired Transaction Tax Resources (TTR) for about $377 million in cash. TTR's core business is a subscription service for tax professionals. Avalara and TTR manage two tax document management platforms, Avalara's CertCapture and TTR's Exemption Certificate Management System, and Avalara intends to combine the two offerings. TTR is headquartered in McMinnville, Oregon. Seattle-based Avalara has offices across the U.S. and in Brazil, Europe and India.
The Tacoma City Council is looking for applicants with experience in government performance and financial auditing, public administration, and government financial and fiscal practices to fill the community member position on the Audit Advisory Board. The board is comprised of each member of the Government Performance and Finance Committee (GPFC), two members of the Tacoma Public Utilities Board and one community member. The Audit Advisory Board supports the City Council's GPFC in carrying out its audit advisory, oversight and liaison functions. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by Oct. 21. LeoStella, a specialized satellite design and manufacturing company, has been recognized by Seattle Business magazine as one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2020. Employees from nominated companies anonymously responded to a comprehensive survey regarding specific categories including communication, training, rewards and recognition. The survey results were then used to establish the top companies. Based in Tukwila, LeoStella is a joint venture between Thales Alenia Space and BlackSky.
