Mighty-O Donuts announced that Erik Olsen will be the new operations manager of the five-store company. He will oversee staffing, supervise operations and processes, as well as ensure quality across all departments. Prior to Mighty-O, Olsen worked as the director of food and beverage at Columbia Hospitality, as well as the food and beverage manager at Columbia Tower Club. Mighty-O was founded 21 years ago by Ryan Kellner. The company sources most of its ingredients from local and organic vendors and producers. It has stores at Green Lake, Ballard, Capitol Hill and the Denny Triangle.

Pacific Northwest law firm Lane Powell added three attorneys to its Seattle office: Aaron Johnson, Jonathan Schirmer and Avin S. Singh. Johnson, counsel to the firm on the Tax team, joins Lane Powell from PwC, where he worked as a tax manager. Johnson represents U.S. and international businesses in state and local tax matters including tax controversies, tax planning and structuring tax-efficient transactions. Johnson is currently an adjunct professor at Seattle Pacific University and an affiliate instructor for the University of Washington. Schirmer joins the firm from Ahlers Cressman & Sleight as an associate on the Commercial Litigation and Construction teams. Schirmer has represented property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, developers and design professionals on complex public and private matters. He is admitted to practice in Washington and Alaska. Singh joins the firm from Cozen O'Connor as an associate on the Commercial Litigation and Construction teams. He is an experienced litigator who counsels on common and complex commercial, construction, product liability, property damage and general tort matters involving state as well as federal laws and regulations. He is admitted to practice in Washington and Hawaii.

Natural Systems Design

Natural Systems Design (NSD) promoted Colin Riordan to project scientist and Nic Truscott to senior engineer. New additions to the firm's staff include Lisa Remlinger as operations lead, and Kim Smith as marketing coordinator. Riordan joined NSD in 2015 and in his early days led field efforts and data analysis for the BPA and RCO effectiveness monitoring efforts. Since that time, he's expanded his capabilities to include GIS and spatial analysis, habitat suitability analysis, riparian ecology, and wetlands work. Truscott joined NSD in 2017 and has spent much of his time advancing stream and logjam engineering designs with the Bureau of Reclamation, Chelan County, and more recently with Skagit County, Lummi Tribe and Nooksack Tribe. Remlinger has more than 16 years of experience overseeing programs and initiatives in support of natural resources, clean water and climate programs. She has extensive experience with policy development and has advanced community forests, endangered species conservation plans, forest carbon projects and clean energy siting guidelines. Smith brings more than 25 years of experience in marketing, business development and event management for the AEC and technology sectors. She has managed, written and edited numerous winning proposals for such firms as Tetra Tech/KCM, INCA Engineers, Black & Veatch and the former CH2M Hill. NSD, founded in 2003, is a team of scientists, engineers and planners. It has over 45 employees in its Seattle, Bellingham and Port Angeles offices.

Alaska Communications has formed the Alaska Communications Advisory Board to bring community and customer perspectives to guide decision making. The company operates a statewide data network connecting Alaska to the contiguous United States. Columbia Sportswear named Jim Beeman as vice president of U.S. sales for the Columbia brand. In this role, Beeman will report to Tim Sheerin, senior vice president, Global Wholesale, Columbia brand. “Jim has led multiple teams at Nike and driven significant growth in support of large integrated wholesale partnerships, driven category brand marketing and retail brand marketing, as well as territory-based teams across wholesale, digital and direct,” said Sheerin. Columbia Sportswear Co. has assembled a portfolio of brands, and is a leader in the global active lifestyle apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment industry. Founded in 1938 in Portland, the company's brands are sold in approximately 90 countries.

Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson announced that Brent Beecher, formerly of Hackett Beecher, has joined the firm, of counsel, to practice with its Business Litigation and Real Estate Law groups. Beecher concentrates on insurance policy and bad faith disputes. He represents both insurance policy holders and insurance companies. He also lectures on insurance issues at legal seminars for other attorneys. A graduate of Bowdoin College, Beecher was a judicial extern before receiving his juris doctor and MBA from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson was founded over 48 years ago in Seattle.

Foster Garvey elevated four attorneys to principal in its Seattle office: Chloe Thompson Villagomez, Paul Heer, Dan Youngblut and Michael Zhao. Additionally, the firm added Noah Williams to its Seattle location. Thompson Villagomez has over 16 years of experience representing tribes and tribal entities, advising on a broad range of governmental and business matters. Heer focuses on domestic and international investments for public and private institutional investors across a range of alternative investments, including private equity funds, hedge funds, and domestic and global real estate funds. Youngblut represents debtors, creditors, trustees and others in bankruptcy proceedings, receiverships and distressed scenarios. He also represents sponsors and managers on all aspects of real estate funds and syndications, banks and borrowers on major financing transactions, and other clients on general corporate matters. City of Kenmore

The Kenmore City Council elected Nigel Herbig as mayor and Melanie O'Cain as deputy mayor. Herbig has served on the council since 2014 and was deputy mayor since 2018. O'Cain has served on the council since 2020. Former Mayor David Baker will remain on the council; his current term goes through 2023. Baker served as mayor from 2008 through 2021. Incumbents Joe Marshall, Angela Kugler, Debra Srebnik and Herbig were reelected last November. The Kenmore City Council is responsible for establishing city policies, enacting and amending city laws, adopting the biennial budget, and setting the overall direction and vision for the city. Council members serve staggered four-year terms, and the council selects one of its members to serve as mayor and a second as deputy mayor for two-year terms.

Laird Norton Wealth Management and Wetherby Asset Management have merged. The combination establishes a national presence with offices in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City. The new enterprise manages over $15 billion in client assets. Kristen Bauer, Laird's CEO, is now CEO of the combined firms. Debra Wetherby maintains the role of managing partner of WAM and serves on an expanded Laird board of directors. Senior leadership teams are working together to integrate operations. The combined company retains both the Laird and Wetherby names, and continues to serve high and ultra-high net worth families. Financial details associated with the merger were not disclosed. Founded in 1990, WAM is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Los Angeles and New York. Headquartered in Seattle, Laird Norton Co. is a seventh-generation, family-owned enterprise with investments in real estate and operating companies. Laird Norton Co. is the majority owner of Laird Norton Wealth Management, and wholly owns Laird Norton Properties, a Seattle-based real estate investment firm.
