Schroeter Goldmark & Bender

Julie Kline, a former King County senior deputy prosecutor, joined Seattle-based law firm Schroeter Goldmark & Bender. Kline also was senior advisor and interim general counsel to former Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan. She has over 20 years of experience advocating for victims. At SGB, Kline's practice is focusing on violent crimes; sexual assault and harassment; serious injury and wrongful death; elder and vulnerable adult abuse; and medical malpractice.

Skytap

Seattle-based Skytap hired tech veteran Barney Silver as chief financial officer. Silver was formerly vice president of finance and operations for BitTitan, a local SaaS company. Skytap is a cloud service built to natively run traditional systems in Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud.

Jensen Investment Management

Lake Oswego, Oregon-based Jensen Investment Management appointed Shannon Contreras to its board. Contreras joined Jensen in 2014, and has been the firm's director of finance and senior compliance officer. She also serves as treasurer of the Jensen Quality Growth Fund. Jensen is an employee-owned equity investment management firm.

Remitly

Remitly, a digital financial services provider for immigrants and their families, appointed Hemanth Munipalli as chief financial officer. Munipalli has over 20 years of finance leadership experience with multinational consumer-facing organizations. He most recently was senior vice president and CFO at Expedia Group. Remitly's current CFO Susanna Morgan will remain in the role pending Munipalli's official start in July, after which she will serve as senior advisor to support a smooth transition through September. Remitly is headquartered in Seattle and has seven offices around the world.

Getaround

San Francisco-based Getaround is expanding its digital carsharing operations to Seattle. Getaround has collaborated with the Seattle Department of Transportation to bring carshare vehicles to dedicated parking spaces across the city, initially in the Madrona, Capitol Hill and Queen Anne neighborhoods. The program allows residents to reserve a shared vehicle for as little as one hour. Founded in 2009, Getaround is active in over 950 cities worldwide.

Kiterocket

Amanda Foley assumed the role of CEO at communications agency Kiterocket, which she co-founded. Martijn Pierik, her predecessor and co-founder, has transitioned to executive chairman. Rebecca Holmes, the agency's third co-founder, is now chief operating officer. The moves support the company's growth plan. Foley in 2004 founded Duo Public Relations, which merged in 2016 with Pierik's agency, Impress Labs, and together relaunched in 2017 as Kiterocket. The agency also appointed Jamie Campbell as managing director of client services, Danielle Friedman as managing director of operations, and Amy Smith as managing director of the technology practices. Kiterocket has offices in Seattle and Phoenix, and upward of 40 employees.

Alpine Immune Sciences

In Seattle, Alpine Immune Sciences appointed Dr. Andrew S. Sandler as its chief medical officer. Sandler joins Alpine from Kiadis Pharma (a Sanofi company), where he was chief medical officer. He has over 25 years of industry and clinical practice experience, with stints at Medivation (Pfizer), Dendreon Pharmaceuticals, Spectrum Pharmaceuticals and Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals. His first day at Alpine is expected to be Aug. 17. Alpine is a clinical-stage immunotherapy company focused on developing treatments for cancer and autoimmune/inflammatory diseases.

Department of Commerce

Washington state Department of Commerce Director Lisa Brown named 21 members to the state's new Manufacturing Council. The council will advise and consult with the department and its agency partners, including the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the state Board of Community and Technical Colleges, on the state of manufacturing and research and development.

The Building Economic Strength Through Manufacturing (BEST) Act, passed by the 2021 state Legislature, provides a framework for the state to add 300,000 new manufacturing jobs over the next 10 years. The BEST Act also seeks to double the number of small manufacturing firms and the number of manufacturing firms owned by women and minorities.

Carolyn Busch, workforce innovation sector lead, and Sarah Lee, manufacturing sector lead, will staff the new Manufacturing Council. The first meeting of the council will take place this month.
