Sirion

Bellevue-based Sirion appointed Siddharth Chatterjee as senior vice president of human Resources. Chatterjee has over 15 years of experience in business partnering, talent management, organization development, change management and talent acquisition. Previously, Chatterjee served as the human resources head for OYO's European operations. He also played a role in establishing the OYO brand in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Chatterjee will be responsible for leading Sirion's human resources strategy, global talent acquisition, leadership development, cultural development, employee education, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. Sirion's platform provides AI-powered contract lifecycle management.

Data I/O

Gerald Ng joined Data I/O as vice president of finance, and effective Aug. 16, he will become the company's vice president and chief financial officer. Ng brings experience in finance and treasury functions, business development, financial planning & forecasting, monthly reporting and business compliance. He was previously chief financial officer for Kymeta, a broadband satellite and cellular networks communication company. Ng was CFO of FUJIFILM SonoSite, and prior to that CFO at Fluke Networks, a Danaher operating company, where he supported the sale of the business to NetScout. He served as vice president of finance at Spiration, and was responsible for all finance and treasury functions and provided due diligence in the sale of the company to Olympus Medical. Gerald holds a MBA from Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management, and a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from the University of Washington. Data I/O is headquartered in Redmond, and provides advanced security and data deployment solutions for microcontrollers, security ICs and memory devices.

University of Washington

Gov. Jay Inslee announced the appointments of Maggie Walker and Jay Cunningham to the University of Washington Board of Regents. Walker will serve out the remainder of Libby Gates MacPhee's term, which ends in September 2024. MacPhee resigned from the board effective June 26. Cunningham replaces Elizabeth Lee as the board's student regent. Walker is a conservationist and philanthropist and currently serves as the president of the Walker Family Foundation. She is also the founding and current board chair of the Friends of Waterfront Seattle and represents the College of the Environment on the UW Foundation Board. Until 2022, she served as the chair of the board of the National Audubon Society. Over the last 25 years, Walker has led the boards of many organizations: Henry Art Gallery; the Woodland Park Zoo; MOHAI; Global Partnerships; Seattle Foundation; Seattle Art Museum; Bullitt Foundation; Washington Women's Foundation; ARCS Foundation; and the UW College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board. Cunningham will serve as the student regent from 2023 to 2024. He is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Human Centered Design and Engineering. He received a graduate research fellowship from the National Science Foundation in 2021 and has worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California. Cunningham earned his bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Alabama.

Bryan Powell has been elected the next vice president of Lane Powell. He replaces Tom Sondag, who is retiring after serving as vice president and partner in charge of the firm's Portland office since 2014. Powell joined the firm in 1994, and advises clients on all aspects of real estate development, financing, leasing, and management. He will continue to serve clients throughout his appointment. Powell has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America rankings, and named one of America's Leading Lawyers for Business in Real Estate by Chambers USA, as well as an Oregon Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters. He is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, a Fellow of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, and a member of The Counselors of Real Estate. Powell also serves on the Executive Committee of the Real Estate and Land Use Section of the Oregon State Bar, and formerly served on the advisory board for the Portland State University Center for Real Estate. Sondag has been a member of the Lane Powell team for nearly 39 years. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law in 1984, and began practicing law thereafter. Sondag served as lead counsel in more than 200 appeals in state and federal courts.

Jenifer McMahon joined Alliant Insurance Services as vice president within its Employee Benefits Group. In this role, the Seattle-based consultant will provide a full range of strategic benefits solutions to client's throughout the Pacific Northwest. McMahon is an experienced health and benefits consultant and relationship manager, with decades of experience in the industry, Prior to joining Alliant, McMahon was a senior consultant & relationship manager in the Health & Benefits practice of a global human resources consulting firm. A Registered Health Underwriter, she earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Washington. Alliant Insurance Services is a distributor of diversified insurance products and services operating through a network of specialized national platforms and local offices.

Qualtrics

Qualtrics, a cloud-native software provider and creator of the experience management (XM) software category, announced the completion of its acquisition by Silver Lake, a global technology investor firm, in partnership with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments). Silver Lake and its co-investors, together with CPP Investments, have acquired 100% of the outstanding shares in Qualtrics that Silver Lake does not already own. Qualtrics' common stock has ceased trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange. In connection with the close, Accel, a global venture capital firm, as well as BDT & MSD Partners, a merchant bank built to serve the needs of business owners and strategic, long-term investors; and DFO Management, the family investment office of Michael Dell, have joined Silver Lake in investing in Qualtrics. Morgan Stanley acted as financial advisor to Qualtrics, and Goodwin Procter as legal advisor. Qualtrics is co-headquartered in Provo, Utah and Seattle and operates out of 28 offices globally.

Madrona appointed three venture partners to its team of investors. As venture partners, Loren Alhadeff, Mark Nelson, and Ted Kummert support Madrona's portfolio companies as they build, scale, and navigate a company's growth. Venture partners also work with the investment team on new companies and technologies. Alhadeff joins Madrona after 14 years leading the sales organization at DocuSign, most recently as COO. At Madrona, he works with portfolio companies on go-to-market strategy, developing sales teams, field leadership, and executive development. Nelson moves from a strategic director to a venture partner at Madrona. Most recently CEO of Tableau, he is a product and engineering leader, and has been part of the leadership team through two significant acquisitions, Tableau by Salesforce and Concur by SAP. In his new role, Nelson will work directly with portfolio companies and the investment team to identify new companies. Kummert returns to Madrona as a venture partner. An experienced product and engineering leader, he most recently served as the chief product development officer at UiPath and held a similar leadership role at Apptio. During his tenure at both companies, they each had a successful IPO. Kummert first joined Madrona a decade ago, coming directly off of 23 years at Microsoft as a corporate vice president, which ended with a 6-year tenure leading the SQL Server business. Madrona is a venture capital firm based in Seattle, with over 25 years of investing in early-stage technology companies.

Bellevue-based Smartsheet, an enterprise platform for work management, appointed Khozema Shipchandler to its board of directors. He will also serve on the board's Audit Committee. Shipchandler's experience focused on growing and scaling global digital businesses and communities. Currently, he is president at Twilio Inc. With over 25 years of experience, he has served as Twilio's chief operating officer and chief financial officer, as well as in a variety of financial roles at General Electric, across Industrial Internet, Aviation and Corporate Audit, in the U.S., Middle East and Singapore. Khozema earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University Bloomington and completed graduate coursework at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Laird Norton Wealth Management

Laird Norton Wealth Management (LNWM), along with partner firm Wetherby Asset Management (WAM), opened a new office in the Philadelphia area. The firm now has five offices, adding to its existing operations in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. The new Philadelphia office will allow LNWM and WAM to serve more high and ultra-high net worth clients on the East Coast with wealth planning and investment services, including impact investing, private equity and other alternative investing solutions, and multi-generational estate planning, philanthropic advising and family business advisory. Ron Albahary, LNWM and WAM's chief investment officer, will lead growth strategies for the new office.
