Cowlitz Economic Development Council

Clint Page has been hired as executive director of the Cowlitz Economic Development Council. Page was formerly the director of industrial recruitment and vice president of the Columbia River Economic Development Council in Vancouver, where he helped recruit roughly $2 million of industrial development to Clark County. Most of those businesses were in high-tech industries, the type he hopes to bring to Cowlitz County.

Northwest Cable Advertising

Northwest Cable Advertising has hired Casey Anderson and Whitney Poe as retail sales representatives in the Seattle headquarters office. Previously, Anderson was a sales representative at KIRO-AM and Poe worked at Pacific Publishing, also as a sales representative.

Applebee's Neighborhood Bar & Grill

Dave Johnson has been appointed general manager of Applebee's Neighborhood Bar & Grill at Southcenter, which opened yesterday at 17790 Southcenter Parkway, directly across from Levitz Furniture. Johnson has over seven years of experience with Applebee's. He formerly served as general manager of restaurants in Puyallup and Sea-Tac Mall. Prior to that, the Minneapolis, Minn., native was general manager for Applebee's in Minnetonka, Minn.

Baron & Co.

Todd McGee has joined Bellingham-based marketing communications firm Baron & Co. as an account coordinator in its planning department. Previously, McGee served as marketing coordinator at Lynden Air Freight in Seattle, where he was responsible for written material, media contact and assistance in implementation of the company's strategic plan.

Key Bank

Key Bank of Washington has promoted Michael E. Butcher, manager, Edgewood-Milton branch, to vice president. Butcher formerly was assistant vice president, and has been branch manager since 1994.

Immunex Corp.

Immunex Corp. has announced the appointment of David A. Mann as vice president, controller, responsible for accounting, credit, tax and financial reporting functions. Before joining Immunex, Mann served as controller for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle for eight years. He holds a BA degree from Western Washington University and an Executive MBA from the University of Washington. Immunex is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of products to treat cancer and autoimmune disease.

Targeted Genetics

SEATTLE (PRN) -- Targeted Genetics Corp. has completed a self-managed public offering that raised $11.7 million through the sale of 778,598 units at a price of $15 per unit. The offering brings the total number of outstanding shares of common stock to 12.1 million. International Biotechnology Trust, an investment trust managed by Rothschild Asset Management, Ltd., London, led the offering with an investment of $4.5 million. The remaining $7.2 million came from a mix of current and new institutional investors, and company officers and directors. Proceeds from the offering will provide Target Genetics with the necessary funds to cover operating costs through late 1996. The company is also working to establish at least one corporate research and development collaboration. Targeted Genetics develops gene therapy products for the treatment of certain acquired and inherited diseases. Washington State Convention & Trade Center The 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Bill of Rights is the theme of the Let Freedom Ring photography exhibit sponsored by Parade Magazine and The Seattle Times Co., the Washington State Convention & Trade Center has announced. The 100 photographs were selected in 1991 from a record 207,400 entries. It includes pictures of flags, statues, soldiers, as well as American rituals such as prayer, marriage, graduation, music and baseball. Entries were judged on the basis of pictorial composition, originality, interest of subject matter, visual appeal and consistency with the Let Freedom Ring theme. This is Parade's fifth annual traveling photography exhibit, with entries from 34 states, the District of Columbia and a U.S. Air Force base in Germany. The exhibit will be on display July 22 through August 24, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., in Room 402, Level 4 of the convention center, Eighth & Pike, Seattle.

Washington Technology Center

The Washington Technology Center has hired Laura Dorsey as a new industrial research marketing manager. She joins the WTC marketing group in promoting industry-university research partnerships to foster technology transfer and economic growth in the state, and will focus on high technology markets in the areas of biotechnology, biomedical instrumentation, computer systems and software, and human interface technology. Dorsey has over five years experience in technical sales and product development with Honeywell Inc., Seattle, where she managed a five-state territory with annual sales topping $4.8 million.

WOSCA Shippers Cooperative

Shannon McCord has joined the WOSCA Shippers Cooperative, as vice president of operations, responsible for management of the Seattle-based non-profit's transportation services, and its Alaska division, claims, customer service and dispatch departments. McCord most recently served as transportation projects manager, and earlier as traffic manager, at Fred Meyer Inc. in Portland. Prior to that, he was director of transportation for PayLess Drug Stores in Wilsonville, Ore. He also served on WOSCA's board of directors for more than 12 years.

Advanced Technology Laboratories

BOTHELL (PRN) -- David M. Perozek has resigned as president and chief operating officer of Advanced Technology Laboratories for personal reasons, and will leave the company on Sept. 1 to pursue other interests. Jacques Souquet, Ph.D., ATL senior vice president for product generation, and Donald D. Blem, senior vice president for operations, both of whom reported to Perozek, will report directly to Dennis C. Fill, who will assume the position of president in addition to his responsibilities as chairman and chief executive officer. Senior vice presidents Harvey N. Gillis, finance and administration, and Castor F. Diaz, worldwide sales and marketing, will continue to report to Fill. Bothell-headquartered ATL is a worldwide developer, manufacturer, distributor and servicer of diagnostic medical ultrasound systems.

Pacific Science Center

The Pacific Science Center, which finished its fiscal year in the black for the 19th consecutive year and broke several attendance and membership records, has named a director emeritus and elected board officers, board members and foundation associates. Elisabeth Bottler was awarded the title of director emeritus for her service to the Pacific Science Center Foundation. She is the second director emeritus to be named in the organization's history. Only 10 people will receive the honor. The following board officers were elected at Tuesday's annual meeting: Ginger Ackerley of Ackerley Corporate Giving, president; Richard Sonstelie, Puget Sound Power & Light, honorary chair; James Warjone, Port Blakely Tree Farms, chair; and Douglas Beighle, The Boeing Co., president-elect. Tad Lhamon of Milliman & Robertson was elected vice president and chair of the annual fund committee; David Fluke, Fluke Capital & Management Services, was elected vice president at large; John Rindlaub of Seafirst Bank was re-elected vice president and chair of the foundation associates committee; Peter Stanton, Washington Trust Bank in Spokane, was re-elected vice president and chair of the Riverfront Park Pavilion advisory council; and Patricia Kendall of Bellevue was elected vice president and chair of the Twenty-Twelve committee. Boh Dickey of SAFECO Corp. was re-elected treasurer and Wanda Cowles of Spokane was re-elected secretary. In addition, three new board members were elected: Donald Kraft of EvansGroup; Tad Lhamon of Milliman & Robertson; and Howard Lincoln of Nintendo Corporation of America. Also elected were six new foundation associates: Sally Jewell of West One Bank; Dean Kathleen Mailer of Seattle University; Larry Horwitz of Northwest Lodging Inc.; Bill Nye the Science Guy of KCTS/Disney; Jeff Renner of KING-TV; and Jim Miller of Northern Life Insurance. On-site attendance at the Pacific Science Center exceeded one million visitors for the first time since the 1962 World's Fair.
