The Inn at Semiahmoo

Wendy Popkin has been named director of marketing for the Inn at Semiahmoo, a Wyndham Resort located in Blaine. Popkin was previously regional marketing manager for the Hotel Group in Seattle. Prior to that, she held sales marketing positions with KLSY radio in Bellevue and The Salish Lodge at Snoqualmie Falls.

Cucina! Cucina! Inc.

Paul Campbell has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer for Cucina! Cucina! Inc. Before joining Cucina! Cucina!, Campbell served as vice president/chief financial officer and vice president of planning and administration for Clearwater, Fla.-based Checker's Drive-In Restaurants Inc. He also served as a senior business planner, national advertising fund manager, and region finance manager for Taco Bell Corp., based in Irvine, Calif.

Willamette Valley Vineyards

Turner, Ore.-based Willamette Valley Vineyards' ovb Chardonnay 1992 Elton Vineyards has received a Double Gold medal from the 1995 Tasters Guild International Wine Judging. Two hundred and forty-nine wineries from 15 countries entered 1018 wines for the event, held at the Hospitality Education facilities of Grands Rapids Community College in Michigan. The Double Gold status was awarded to 48 wines. Willamette Valley vineyards, a publicly owned company with over 4,000 stockholders, was recently posted on NASDAQ under the WVVI symbol.

WRQ

WRQ, a Seattle-headquartered provider of PC connectivity software, has opened a satellite development office in the Austin, Texas area. Initially staffed by six veteran communications engineers, the office is the first of its kind for the company, and came about when a merger between two other connectivity companies freed up a group of experienced engineers who did not want to relocate. The Austin contingent will work on development of WRQ's PC-to-IBM midrange and mainframe connectivity line.

Washington Energy Company

Two Washington Energy Company executives have received new appointments and one has announced his retirement. Timothy J. Hogan, formerly senior vice president of supply and administration and corporate secretary, has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer. James P. Torgerson was appointed executive vice president and chief administrative officer. Previously, Torgerson was senior vice president of finance, planning and development and chief financial officer. He will continue as chief financial officer. Both appointments are to Washington Energy Company and Washington Natural Gas, its utility subsidiary. Also, James W. Gustafson, senior vice president of Washington Natural Gas operations, will retire at the end of this year. He will remain at the company in the interim as senior vice president, working on implementation of the company's re-engineering programs. Two other senior vice presidents have changed titles. Robert J. Tomlinson was named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary for both companies, and William J. Wortley is the new senior vice president for government relations for Washington Gas.

Facilities West Inc.

Facilities West Inc., a professional management services firm with offices in Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada, has announced the opening of an office in Seattle. Dan Maus will head the company's newest office as vice president of operations, handling all Facilities West operations in Washington, Oregon, and Western Canada. Most recently, Maus was site operations manager for Boeing Information Services and Support in Everett. He is currently regional vice president for the International Facility Management Association (FIMA) for the Northwestern United States and Canada.

Cole & Weber

Cole & Weber, a national advertising agency with offices in Seattle and Portland, has added the Boxlight Corp. to its roster of clients. Earlier this year, the firm captured the account of another technology leader, Silicon Graphics. Poulsbo-based Boxlight, a manufactures of cutting-edge projection and presentation products, employs some 40 people and expects ti increase its workforce by 50 percent by the end of 1995. Inc. magazine named Boxlight one of the nation's fastest growing private companies last year, and Washington CEO named the to its top 100 in the same category. Agency vice president/management supervisor Heidi Baron and vice president/group creative director Bill Northrop will manage the account.

Redmond Rotary

Redmond National Bank President Keith Galpin has replaced Jorgen Schleer as president of Redmond Rotary. Galpin's term will extend until July 1996. The Rotary's central focus this year is to complete Rotary Park, a recreation area on the west side of the Sammamish River. The park is the initial phase of the group's long-term plan to build a second paved recreation path along the river. Other Redmond Rotary projects include RedSpoke, an annual bicycle ride from Redmond to Spokane, the Rotary Auction, Operation First Harvest, and the Redmond Elementary Lunch Buddies program.

Marcus & Millichap

Matthew Balkman has been appointed a senior investment associate of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage company, according to Ross Candoo, first vice president and regional manager of the Seattle office.

The Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers

Devon Walter, convention services manager for the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers, has been awarded the Washington State Chapter of Meeting Professionals International's Supplier of the Year Award. The award, based on international and local participation in Meetings Professionals International, recognizes members involvement, commitment and achievement in the hospitality industry. Walter has worked for the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers for more than 12 years and has been a convention services staff member since 1987.

Westin Hotels & Resorts

Jim Treadway, executive vice president of Westin Hotels & Resorts, has resigned after 23 years with the company. He plans to pursue career opportunities in the hospitality industry, but outside of Westin. Treadway joined Westin in 1972 at The Carlton Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa. He then served in Oslo, Norway; Atlanta; Seattle; Los Angeles; and Kauai, Hawaii before returning to Seattle and Westin's worldwide headquarters as a corporate officer in 1990. He was president of Westin Hotels & Resorts, North America until May 1995 when the company was purchased by a partnership of Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Starwood Capital, L.P.
