Tippett Marine Services

Tippett Marine Services, a local boatbuilder and supplier of hydraulics systems services, has appointed Don Mattingly to the position of sales estimator. Mattingly most recently worked for Marcom Inc. of Seattle, and before that, was with Unimar Shipyard and Lockheed Shipbuilding. He also has more than 30 years of experience working with the Navy's Supships department.

Advertising Production Association

The Advertising Production Association has elected Karen Flory president and Valerie Prescott secretary/treasurer. Flory, a 14-year veteran of the advertising production industry, is a global project specialist at Microsoft. Prescott is a logistics and operations manager at Cole & Weber/The Rodeo, the electronic production division of Seattle-based Cole & Weber Advertising.

Excell Data

Bellevue-headquartered software and system integration company Excell Data has opened an office in Portland, in the Lincoln Tower Center. For the past two years, Excell Data has been serving numerous Portland-based companies, including Nike and Consolidated Freightways, from its Bellevue base. With the new office, the company expects to double its service in Portland over the next year. The office will be headed up by Greg Welch. Welch has managed major accounts for Excell Data Corp. for the past two years. He has more than eight years of senior level technical account management experience.

MWW/Savitt

David Tindall has been promoted to account executive in the Seattle office of communications firm MWW/Savitt. Tindall's most recent work at the agency has included managing the research component of a major employee communications project for a national client and conducting media relations campaigns. He came to Seattle from Washington, D.C., where he held positions with public relations and government affairs agencies such as Beckel Cowen and Powell Tate, and the government relations office of Nissan North America. He also served as a staff assistant at the White House in 1994.

Midcom Communications Inc.

Seattle-headquartered Midcom Communications Inc., a national provider of long-distance telecommunications services to small-and medium-sized business, has named Teresa Attoinese director of revenue accounting and promoted Ruth Lowe from senior systems analyst to senior systems manager. Attoinese most recently was employed by US West Communications as a global acceptance test team leader. She previously was US West's billing programs manager and alternative billing consultant. Lowe most recently led the design, development, testing and implementation of Midcom's new billing system. Before joining Midcom full time, she was a consultant for Aris Corp.

ID Vaccine Corp.

Todd R. Patrick has been appointed president of ID Vaccine Corp., Seattle. Patrick had been vice president of business development at ID Vaccine since joining the Seattle-based company in July 1994. Before than, he was director of the UCLA Office of Intellectual Property Administration, a position he held for approximately five years, and executive director of the Washington State University Research Foundation. A subsidiary of ID Biomedical, a Canadian company, ID Vaccine is involved in the development of subunit vaccines and immunotherapeutics against infectious diseases.

Blue World

Bill Doerrfeld, president of Issaquah-based World Wide Web home page development and Internet consulting firm Blue World, will appear in an upcoming video-active CD-ROM title produced by Splash Studios. He won the privilege by outbidding other attendees of the Washington Software Association 1995 GalaByte Auction & Ball.

XactLabs

Seattle-headquartered XactLabs Corp., a producer of on-line/off-site backup and retrieval technology, has named Alan J. Higginson president. The company has also changed its corporate name (formerly XactData), added key executive staff, and revamped its distribution strategy. Higginson formerly spent five years at Sierra On-Line and was the software company's executive vice president of world wide sales and marketing before coming to XactLabs. He has over 15 years of experience in technology-related industries in senior executive positions.

Seattle University

Seattle University's Executive Master of Not-for-Profit Leadership (NPL) Program and the Northwest Development Officers Association will host a one-day professional seminar on Nov. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., as part of its Institute of Public Service's Nonprofit and Philanthropic Executive Series. The seminar will focus on nonprofit management, leadership, and communications. Chevron Foundation Executive Skip Rhodes will be the featured luncheon speaker, discussing "Managing for the Next Century." Clover Park Technical College

Mike Magno has joined Tacoma-based Clover Park Technical College as a new coordinator in the management and employee development department, which provides training programs tailored to the needs of business, industry, and governmental agencies. At the request of the Washington State Department of Education and Training, Magno developed a "Violence in the Workplace" workshop which he presents to city departments, state and federal agencies and the private sector throughout the Northwest. He is a certified instructor by the National Crisis Prevention Institute, and also teaches workshops focusing on team-building and 20 other topics of interest in the contemporary work environment. Magno has 24 years of experience in training and management.
