TCI Advertising Sales has appointed Penny L. Taylor to the new position of regional vice president in charge of all ad sales operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. The new regional headquarters will be in Seattle. Taylor was formerly general manager of Northwest Cable Advertising in Seattle, a joint-venture of TCI and Viacom. The move is part of TCI's nation-wide reorganization and enlargement of advertising operations. Taylor is one of nine regional vice presidents announced recently by the Denver-based company.
Plano, Texas-based Executive Suites Association, a 500-member international organization providing individual office space and business services, has promoted Vanette Fontenette as its Washington state director. Fontenette manages the Executive Suites at EastRidge, an executive office complex located in Vancouver, Clark County. In her new position, Fontenette will work with Puget Sound and Portland-Metro area suites to provide networking and educational opportunities for executive suite owners and managers.
Seattle-based public relations firm MWW/Savitt has promoted Amy Bosch from creative director to vice president of creative services. Bosch's areas of specialty include high-impact product introductions, advertising, creative concept development and copywriting. She helped found MWW/Savitt in November 1993. Prior to the firm's formation, she was an account executive with Seattle-based Sorensen Roberts & Hansen and at Arst Public Relations in Bellevue. Also, Roseanne Marks, previously an account supervisor, has been promote to vice president of strategic planning.
Tully's Coffee, a Seattle-based coffee retailer, has named Renee R. Barnes director of marketing. Barnes joins the company after eight years in skiwear and sports gear marketing. She served as director of advertising at Seattle's Roffe Inc., after working the previous seven years in advertising and promotions at K2 Corp., on Vashon Island.
The Redmond Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations for its 50th annual membership banquet scheduled for Jan. 27, 1996. At the banquet, the Chamber will present awards to honor its citizen of the year, business of the year, volunteer individual of the year and volunteer group of the year. Mary Jean Lord, communications and public information specialist at Klickitat County PUD, has received the Public Utility Districts Association's highest honor, the William T. Elmgren Public Service Award. Also, Clallam County PUD employees Les Klontz and Terry Lind, and Grant County PUD employee Jim Lumpkins received the association's Good Samaritan Award, recognizing meritorious action in a life-threatening situation: Grant County PUD power dispatchers John Vanderwaal and Robert Johnson were given the Public Power Spirit Award for their work in developing a cost effective program that the utility has used to enter into margin sales. And, Kortney Dolan, daughter of Pacific County PUD conservation manager Jim Dolan, received the $750 Walkley Educational Scholarship.

Sue Boswell has been appointed vice president of the worker's compensation administrative services division of Portland, Ore.-based Giesy, Greer & Gunn Inc., an independent insurance adjusting firm with 10 offices in the Pacific Northwest. Boswell has served as the worker's compensation division claims manager for the past five years. She joined Giesy, Greer & Gunn in 1976 from the Insurance Company of North America.
The board of directors of Minneapolis, Minn.-based investment firm Piper Jaffray Inc. has elected several Seattle employees as officers. New officers include: Janna O. Cassidy, sales management, elected assistant vice president; vice president of corporate finance David L. Midgley, principal; and investment executives Arne R. Domas and Dana P. Wood-Skinner, assistant vice presidents, investments.
The Committee for the Seattle Commons has hired volunteer board member Janet Pelz, media relations, marketing communications and community relations manager for the Port of Seattle, as its new communications director. Pelz is a veteran of the city's political circles, having worked at the Seattle Center for four years, helping direct a $50 million levy campaign to finance improvements at the center and five community centers. She also managed a fund-raising drive for the Pike Place Market in 1984.
The Seattle City Council has confirmed Kenneth J. Klimusko as the new Municipal Court Administrator. He will join the Court in early January. Klimusko has an extensive background in business and criminal justice. He has been the Court Administrator for Bakersfield, California Municipal Court since 1992, receiving Kern County Grand Jury's "Outstanding Public Service Award" and Kern County Council of Government's "Innovation in Government Service Award" in 1994.
The Washington State Historical Society has awarded Bill and Ann Evans a contract for museum shop services in the Washington State History Museum, currently under construction in downtown Tacoma. The couple are the owner-operators of retail shops in the Proctor District of Tacoma, including The Pacific Northwest Shop and The Old House Mercantile Company. The principal partners bring more than 21 years of retail business success on a regional and local level, beginning their business career at the Pike PLace Market and eventually operating the Washington State Pavilion store in Vancouver, B.C., at Expo '86.
