Sorensen Roberts & Hansen, a Seattle-based agency focusing on Internet services, has promoted Patti Turnbull to vice president. Turnbull, a 12-year employee of Sorensen Roberts & Hansen, has managed a variety of business-to-business and consumer accounts.
Bob Frause has been elected managing partner of Kindred Nolan Callahan Frause, an advertising, public relations and marketing communications agency of Seattle. From 1985 to 1995, Frause was a senior vice president at Elgin DDB.
Three admirals have been assigned by the Navy in the creation of a Navy megaport in Bremerton to streamline operations and putting more control in the hands of local brass. Rear Adm. Robert Nutwell, commander of the Navy's Carrier Group 3, now based in Alameda, Calif., and his staff of about 56 military personnel will move into offices at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton by next January. Rear Adm. William D. Center will arrive May 3 from San Francisco and make his headquarters at the new Everett home port to oversee an array of naval activities and bases in the Pacific Northwest. And, Rear Adm. Henry F. Herrera has already been assigned to the region. Headquartered at the Naval Submarine Base at Bangor, he will turn over his regional administrative duties to Center when he arrives but will remain in control of the Bangor-based Trident submarine fleet.
Stephen Jackson has joined the Seattle office of Piper Jaffray Inc., a Minneapolis-based investment firm, as assistant vice president of investments. Previously, Jackson was an investment officer with Dain Bosworth in Seattle. And, Patrick O'Neill has been hired as an investment executive. O'Neill comes from Smith Barney in Seattle where he was a marketing assistant.

Seattle-based Dexter & Chaney Inc., a supplier of the construction industry, has named Pat Calkins, training manager, Karen Mayall, support manager; and Debbie Leahy, head of quality assurance. All are longtime Dexter & Chaney employees.
APR Forwarders, a company with offices in Tacoma and Seattle providing transportation services between Alaska and the lower 48, has appointed Rick Carlson to director of Transportation of APR in Anchorage, and Jayne Kelly to manager of sales and pricing in Tacoma. And Cathy Green and Tim Boedigheimer have joined the company as sales representatives.
The Seattle Art Museum has announced a Black & White Ball evening on May 17 from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. at the museum downtown location where five stages and tented pavilions will feature music, entertainment, and festivities. The Eastside Disaster Preparedness Expo, preparing for dealing with a major regional disaster, will be held on Saturday, April 20, at Lake Washington Technical College from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Expo is free to the public.
The Millionair Club Charity Inc., now commemorating its 75 anniversary of service to those in need throughout the greater Seattle area, has opened a Women and Family Center, committed to helping homeless women and families in Seattle. The center is located at 113 First Ave. N., on lower Queen Ann.
Thirty University of Washington students from the School of Business are participating in the General Motors Marketing Internship (GMMI) program. Students divided into three groups of ten have the responsibility of devising a marketing plan for GM's Pontiac Division, through a marketing course. Of the three campaign strategies that will be formally presented to Northwest GM and Pontiac executives, one will be chosen, and the entire class will come together for the implementation of the plan in late May.
