Lasher, Holzapfel

Margo Keller of Lasher, Holzapfel, Sperry & Ebberson was elected chairperson of the Washington Commission on Judicial Conduct. This is the first time in the commission's history that a woman attorney has held this position. The commission investigates and acts on complaints of judicial misconduct or disability. It has 11 members who serve four-year terms: six non-lawyer citizens, three judges, and two lawyers.

The Tunturi Group

The Tunturi Group has promoted Karen Dixon to general manager, North America. Dixon will be responsible for Tunturi, Inc. of Redmond and its North American sales and support operations. She previously was vice president sales and marketing, key accounts. Dixon is also a member of the management team of the parent Tunturi Group. The Tunturi Group makes home fitness equipment. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tunturipyora Oy, a privately held corporation in Turku, Finland.

Cole & Weber Advertising has made four promotions to vice president. Jim Rendek has been named vice president/creative director for integrated marketing; Judy Dixon, vice president/director production services; Laurie Pierson, vice president/ media planning supervisor; Christi Malcomson, vice president/media planning supervisor. Annette Wilder has been promoted to account planner on the SAFECO account.

Courtesy Computing

In a reaction to the computer industry's growth, Courtesy Computing, formerly known as Heutmaker Consulting, is moving out of a home office into an office space in Tukwila, and adding a part-time staff. Services of Courtesy Computing include general consultation, network installation, programming, training, both software and hardware configuration and repair. Kenneth Heutmaker is the owner of the company.

The American Society of CLU & ChFC

The American Society of Charted Life Underwriters and Chartered Financial Consultants, a national organization of insurance and financial service professionals, elected new officers at its annual Seattle Chapter meeting held on June 7th. J. Ronald Hearldson was elected president; David Lyons, executive vice president; Mitch Maurer, treasurer and Freda Zimmerman, secretary.

The Melby-Cameron Company, Inc.

Lynn Melby, CAE, president of The Melby-Cameron Company, Inc., was selected as the "Association Executive of the Year" at the Washington Society of Association Executives (WSAE) annual awards dinner held on May 21st. Melby was praised for his positive impact on the industry during his 25-year association career. The Melby-Cameron Company is an association management and consulting firm.

Pacific Thermal Services, Inc.

Hawaii based Pacific Thermal Services, Inc. (PTS) has hired V. Brian Piccolo as vice president of operations and environmental affairs. Piccolo will be responsible for facility operations, contract negotiations, budget and cost analysis, sales and marketing, permitting and environmental compliance. He previously served as vice president of regulatory affairs and general counsel with the Unitek Environmental Companies. PTS is Hawaii's leading facility in the thermal desorption of petroleum contaminated soil. It is associated with RCI Construction Group based in Sumner.

InControl, Inc.

Robert Garee has joined InControl, Inc. as vice president manufacturing. Garee will be responsible on a worldwide basis for manufacturing and manufacturing engineering of the Company' products, the METRIX implantable atrial defibrillation system. The METRIX System is now in clinical trials in the U.S. and in Europe. Prior to InControl, Garee acted as program director with Schneider, Inc. InControl, Inc., a Redmond based company, develops new therapies for atrial fibrillation and works with medical researchers worldwide to advance treatments for atrial fibrillation.

The Municipal Court of Seattle

Judge Jean Rietschel has been confirmed by the Seattle City Council to the Municipal Court bench. She is experienced in criminal and civil law. Prior to establishing a private practice, Rietschel was an attorney with the Seattle-King County Public Defender. She has also served as a pro tem judge in Seattle Municipal and King County District Court.
