Holland America Line-Westours

Holland America Line-Westours has appointed Charles Dunwoody to director of national accounts, and Penny Paxton to district sales manager for North and South Carolina and eastern Tennessee. Both will represent all of Holland America's divisions, including Windstar Cruises.

Public Art Commission

Cheryll Leo-Gwin, director of arts and personal enrichment at Bellevue Community College, has been appointed to the new Public Art Commission by King County Executive, Gary Locke. The new Public Art Commission was formed through a merger of King County and Metro and will oversee the purchase and placement of art in public spaces within King County.

Cole & Weber

Karen Ridings will be joining Cole & Weber as vice president/director of relationship marketing, leading the agency's direct marketing client services group. Ridings will team with Brian Ribbey, who joins Cole & Weber from The Mednick Group, to lead new business development efforts at Cole & Weber's newly created Integrated Marketing Group.

Alaska Sightseeing/Cruise West

Alaska Sightseeing/Cruise West is expanding its group tour department. Melinda Burghduff has been hired as the new position of manager of group sales. As a result of the expansion, AS/CW will increase capacity on several of its Alaska routes and will be able to offer greater flexibility in accepting group bookings.

Whittal Management Group, Ltd.

Cece Kliemann has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Whittall Management Group, Ltd., a human resources consulting firm. In her new position Kliemann will be responsible for the three major operating divisions of the company; recruiting and compensation, vocational services, and workers compensation services, as well as the support functions of marketing, finance and administration.

Financial Consulting Solutions Group Inc.

Anne Wilczak and Eric Espenhorst have joined Financial Consulting Solutions Group Inc. (FCS Group) as staff consultants. Wilczak will work on water and sewer rate and connection charge analyses and has created a standardized method of computing equivalent dwelling unit charges. She is also developing transportation impact fees and operations reviews. Espenhorst brings five years of experience performing financial and rate analysis projects for investor-owned and public utilities to the FCS Group. Project manager, John Ghilarducci has been named a new corporate shareholder and has been elected to the Board of Directors of the FCS Group. Ghilarducci's responsibilities include financial and rate analysis for water, sewer, and storm and surface water utilities. He also specializes in the formation of storm and surface water utilities. The FCS Group is a management consulting firm based in Redmond. The company specializes in municipal financial management.

Elgin Syferd Public Relations

Elgin Syferd Public Relation (ESPR) has hired Denise Gaffney as a senior vice president. Gaffney joins ESPR from the EvansGroup where she acted as senior vice president and managing director of consumer marketing of Evans Food Group. At ESPR she will assist in strategic marketing development and planning. Gaffney will also be working on several of the agency's major accounts.

Seattle Public Library

The Microsoft Internet Discovery Kiosk, which is touring museums and libraries nationwide, made its debut at Seattle's Central Library, located at 1000 Fourth Avenue, on Friday, June 21. The ten-foot tall interactive exhibit will be set up on the first floor to be used as an educational tool for people interested in learning more about the history, technology, uses and potential future of the Internet. The exhibit will remain in the Central Library until early October.

MacWilliams, Cosgrove, Snider, Smith, Robinson

MacWilliams, Cosgrove, Snider, Smith, Robinson (MCSSR) a media and political consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., has opened a Northwest office, located in the Pioneer Square area. The opening marks the first time a national political consulting firm has located a full-time office in Seattle. MCSSR's other offices are in Washington, D.C., Boston and Minneapolis. MSCCR consults a national and regional clientele on media, strategy, advertising, market research, communications training and campaign management. The firm specializes in highly-targeted, "on message" television and radio commercials that maximize limited campaign dollars. Unlike other political consulting firms MCSSR produces and places most advertising in-house. Leading the Northwest team for MCSSR will be Dee Frankfourth, a political professional with many years of experience managing campaigns, including several of former-U.S. Representative Jolene Unsoeld's races. Joining Frankfourth are, Andy Grow, a campaign veteran specializing in media relations and communications strategy, and Patrick Higgins, a long-time legislative policy analyst and political opposition researcher in Olympia and Washington, D.C.

Clover Park Technical College

James Crabbe has been named vice president for instruction at Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) in Lakewood. In his new position, Crabbe will be responsible for 65 fulltime instructional training programs and the continuing education department. Crabbe joined the college staff in 1995 as director of the transportation trades and technologies program cluster.

Hornall Anderson Design Works (HADW) recently added Gina Pijpker and Renee Remlinger to its marketing team. In their new roles as marketing associates, they are responsible for new client development, brand marketing, and providing brand and marketing strategies for maintaining client relationships. Prior to joining HADW, Pijpker worked for The Leonhardt Group as an account coordinator. Remlinger was previously employed as an account manager with Gerstman+Meyers, Inc. in New York.
