Seattle-based Toll Free Cellular is launching the nation's first toll and airtime-free service for cellular telephone users. As a result the company has hired Wilfred James and Karen Kempton as network implementation managers. They will each work with designated wireless carriers to implement the technical capabilities required to offer free cellular calling.
The advertising and public relations agency Jacobson Ray McLaughlin Fillips has transformed itself into a firm called JayRay. The firm's Seattle office has been using the name since early this year. Now its Tacoma office will carry the same name, bringing the offices closer together. JayRay's staff of 20 includes specialists in marketing and advertising strategic planning; advertising creative concepting and copywriting; public relations; graphic design and illustration; public opinion and market research coordination and production management.
Coinstar Inc. has announced its largest chain-wide installation to date with the introduction of self-service coin-counting machines to 214 Ralphs Grocery stores in the greater Los Angeles area. The Ralphs installation will be completed this month, including the installation of Coinstar's milestone 1,000th machine. Headquartered in Bellevue, Coinstar operates over 1,000 coins-to-cash machines in supermarket chains across 18 states including Arizona, California, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.
Cascadia Revolving Fund, a non-profit loan fund that lends to small businesses in Washington and Oregon, has been awarded $600,000 in financial assistance from the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. Awards were based on merit and past performance. The CDFI Fund was developed to help the nation's distressed communities, helping them to create jobs and revitalize neighborhoods in neglected areas. Cascadia has successfully engaged in this kind of revitalization since 1987, making loans to low-income women and minority entrepreneurs, and businesses that preserve or restore the environment, while maintaining an incredibly high success rate.
In preparation for centralized opportunities provided by the recently enacted Interstate Banking Laws, US Bancorp has created a centralized retail banking leadership position to oversee all banking subsidiaries. As a result of this change, US Bancorp has announced a realignment of three other key executive positions. Gary Duim, currently president of US Bancorp's Corporate Banking Group, has been appointed to the new position of head retail banking. Duim will lead all functions of the bank. Robert Lane, currently president and CEO of US Bank of Idaho, will take over Duim's position as president of the company's Corporate Banking Group. Pete Sinclair, will become the new president and CEO of US Bank of Idaho, currently he is president and CEO of US Bank of California. Joe Colmery will take over the position of president and CEO of US Bank of California. Colmery joins US Bank through the bank's acquisition of California Bancshares, Inc. Northwest-based US Bancorp is one of the 30 largest bank holding companies in the nation with assets of nearly $33 billion. The company has more than 600 branches and provides comprehensive financial products and services to consumers and businesses as well as individual and institutional investors in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Northern California and Utah.

Virginia Mason has appointed Shirley Archer as the new manager of the Virginia Mason/Group Health neighborhood healthcare center in West Seattle. Archer has been with Virginia Mason since 1986 and has held a variety of management positions within the Radiology Department. The West Seattle clinic is one of three centers which Virginia Mason operates jointly with Group Healthcare Cooperative. The clinic provides area residents with a variety of healthcare services, including family practice, obstetrics, internal medicine and radiology.
Angela Rudig has been promoted to operations manager for ProVideo Productions. Her responsibilities include overseeing all video projects, scheduling of staff and contract employees, training, and office management. ProVideo produces video programs ranging from one camera documentation and depositions in the legal field to major training and sales videos and broadcast-level productions. ProVideo recently moved it offices to 80 South Washington Street, Seattle.
Reg Branston has joined the Commercial Property Casualty Insurance Department of Kibble & Prentice as a vice president and account executive. He has over thirty years of experience in the insurance industry. Yvette Colpitts has joined W & H Pacific's Bellevue office as an accounting assistant. Her responsibilities will include payroll, billing invoices, and open project file maintenance.
