Ultima Systems

Ultima Systems, a travel club based in Bothell, has named Paul Evanson as chief operations officer. Evanson will be responsible for day-to-day operations at the corporate offices, managing member relations, training, MIS, human resources, accounting and the publications department.

Washington State Medical Association

Jennifer Lawrence has been named the director of communications and membership for the Washington State Medical Association, which represents more than 8,000 physicians throughout the state.

Association of Bar Executives

Dennis Harwick of Seattle, executive director and CEO of the Washington State Bar Association, has been named president of the National Association of Bar Executives, a professional association comprised of Bar Association executives from across the country. Harwick will serve as a national spokesperson on issues affecting the profession and will work at the national level with the American Bar Association and other related legal organizations across the country.

FAA

Lawrence (Larry) Andriesen will replace Frederick Isaac as regional administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Isaac will retire in January 1997. As regional administrator, Andriesen will represent the FAA Administrator in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. Andriesen has been the FAA deputy regional administrator of the Northwest Region since May 1989.

ITM Corp.

Seattle-based ITM Corporation, which recently introduced a new Internet-based service linking freight forwarders and other transportation service providers directly to shippers via desktop PC, has been selected as a partner in the "Dream Team" of transportation and logistics assembled by the Microsoft Corporation. The alliance, officially called the Value Chain Initiative (VCI), will offer integrated solutions using personal computers and the Internet to redefine transportation logistics for shippers. The new software system will allow shippers the ability to click and ship important air cargo via the Internet. The Click 'n Ship system enables customers to quickly request pick-ups and track shipments. It also lets users print forms incorporating current shipping information, including international documentation from their PC. ITM is one of 28 companies that has been assembled by Microsoft for its new VCI.

Oles Morrison & Rinker

Jon Hongladarom, a partner with the Seattle law firm Oles Morrison & Rinker, has been elected as the firm's managing partner. He will focus on the firm's growth as a practice as well as overseeing human resource issues, managing the firm's marketing efforts and supervising the upgrade of the firm's technological capabilities.

Technical Solutions

Warren Barkley has been named systems analyst for Technical Solutions, a Pacific Northwest firm specializing in computer network solutions and systems integration. Barkley's responsibilities will include analyzing, supporting and improving existing computer network systems. Technical Systems has offices in Seattle, Bellevue, and Bainbridge Island.

ConnexT

ConnexT, a Seattle-based independent utility services company, has hired David Grossman as chief financial officer. Grossman will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, product pricing and capital formation; facilitating the rapid growth of the business; and assisting the chief executive officer in business development and forming strategic alliances.

Port of Portland

The Port of Portland has approved a new stevedoring and terminal services agreement and a new terminal use agreement with Evergreen Marine Corp. (Evergreen). Evergreen, a Taiwan-based container carrier, will provide uninterrupted access to the regional market through the Port's Terminal 6 (T-6) container terminal for at least the next two years. The agreements also include a commitment by Evergreen to increase its minimum annual guarantee for handling containers at T-6.
