Margalit Zaltzman Chappell, Mark Fordham, Mark Hoffman and Jeffrey Pickett have joined the Seattle law firm of Graham & James LLP/Riddell Williams P.S. as associates.
International Telcom has promoted Eric Doescher to vice president of Faxaway, an e-mail to fax and Internet-based broadcast fax service. Doescher will provide strategic direction in the areas of advertising, marketing and sales. Faxaway provides e-mail to fax services, charging only for the actual time required to transmit a fax, allowing users to avoid per page charges.
Cucina! Presto! has opened it tenth location at 10727 S.E. Carr Rd., Renton. The Bellevue-based chain is known for its eat-in and take-home Italian food. Architectural design and interior decor was provided by Mesher, Shing and Associates of Seattle, designers of the original Cucina! Cucina! Italian Cafe in Seattle. Construction was by the Rafn Company, and murals by Eclectic Surfaces, both of Seattle.
The annual Women in Trades Fair '97 will be held March 21 and 22 in the Flag Pavilion at the Seattle Center. The fair features workshops, demonstrations and hands-on activities informing women and girls about finding careers in the mechanical, electrical or building trades, or as a firefighter or police officer. It runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. of Saturday. Admission is free and free on-site child care is provided on Saturday with a reservation. Vehicle Monitor Corporation (VMC) has appointed Mike O'Byrne as executive vice president/general manager. O'Byrne will direct the company's management of existing products and services to its customers as well as its new product development and growth into new markets. Headquartered in Redmond, VMC supplies instrumentation solutions for the heavy equipment industry.
The Sharehouse, providers of household supplies to the homeless and educators about homelessness issues, has a number of volunteer opportunities available. The organization needs someone to create a newsletter highlighting young people's involvement in homeless issues. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) of Washington State University will join other community resource partners and provide free counseling at the new Business Assistance Center located at 1101 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma. The Small Business Development Center is funded by the SBA and provides business management, technical assistance and training to small business owners and managers. The Seattle law firm of Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC has appointed Susan Rae Fox as a member of the firm and Daniel Kowalski has joined as of counsel. Fox concentrates her practice in commercial litigation, employment law, construction disputes, product liability and securities law. Kowalski focuses on Immigration Court hearings, administrative appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals and federal court litigation.
Seattle-based Northwest Lodging, a hospitality management company, has been selected Franchisee of the Year by HFS Inc. and awarded the symbol of excellence by the International Franchise Association (IFA). Lawrence Horwitz is the president and chief financial officer of the company.

(EES) has expanded its services to become a full-service infrastructure management, design and implementation consultant to municipal electric and water utilities. Oilily, a Dutch private label retailer of creative and colorful children and women's clothing and accessories, has opened its first Northwest store, Exclusive Oilily located in Bellevue Square. Based in Alkmaar, Netherlands, Oilily was founded by Marieke and Willem Olsthoorn.
