Atrieva Corporation, a provider of on-line, off-site data backup and storage has hired Nancie Pageau as marketing manager. Formerly known as XactLabs, Atrieva is headquartered in Seattle.
CTR Business Systems, Inc., has hired Marsha Kremen as a senior financial systems analyst and as marketing coordinator for the Seattle area. Portland-based CTR designs, develops, implements, integrates and supports computer information systems.
David Myre, Jr. has rejoined the Seattle law firm of Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson, as a principal. Myre's practice will emphasize corporate and partnership organization, real estate ventures and transactions, waste disposal, tax planning and general business transactions.
At its annual luncheon the Washington State Bar Association presented the following awards: the late Joseph Erickson and C. Robert Ford received the Award of Merit; Patrick Dunn, Ragan Powers and Bruce Reeves, the President's Award; Attorney General Christine Gregoire and Patrick Hardy, the Board of Governors Award for Professionalism; Honorable Nancy Ann Holman, the Outstanding Judge Award; Bernice Bacharach, the WSBA Lifetime Service Award; John Wulle, the Angelo Petruss Award for Lawyers in Public Service; Rhesa Mansfield, the WSBA Courageous Award; the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program received the WSBA Pro Bono Award; and the Puget Sound Area Minority Clerkship Program was awarded the Affirmative Action Award. The Washington State Bar Association is a private, non-profit organization authorized by the Washington State Supreme Court to license the 20,000-plus lawyers in the state.
Theodore White, a staff scientist at the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute and assistant professor at the University of Washington, has received the New Investigator Award in Molecular Pathogenic Mycology from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund. The award acknowledges the contributions Dr. White has made in mycology, the study of fungus, and his promise as a beginning scientist. Seattle Biomedical Research Institute is a nonprofit research organization studying infectious disease, the body's response to disease and methods for cures, treatment and diagnostics.
Redmond-based Metawave Communications Corporation announced that the Federal Communications Commission has issued a grant of equipment authorization for the company's SpotLight Multibeam Antenna Platform. The authorization permits the SpotLight system to be made available for commercial use. SpotLight connects to existing cellular base station equipment to enhance a cell site's capacity and coverage, enabling wireless carriers to minimize the cost network growth.
Seattle-based American Seafoods Company, a producer of frozen-at-sea whitefish blocks and surimi, has appointed Michael Loudon as senior vice president of Sales and Marketing.

The following attorneys at Bogle & Gates P.L.L.C. have received the firm's Robert W. Graham Public Service Award for providing outstanding pro bono legal assistance to clients of limited means: David Reed , Dina Alexander, and Doug Mooney, all from the Seattle office; and Brian King, from the Portland office.
Keith VanderZanden has joined Acordia Northwest, Inc.'s Seattle office as an account executive. Acordia, one of the largest insurance brokers in the U.S., is a network of companies that provide insurance brokerage, employee benefits, workers' compensation programs, managed health care integration, consulting and other health care cost control services.
Seattle Biomedical Research Institute has received a grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust for new research initiatives and scientific equipment for its Molecular Pathogenesis Research Program. The two year award will support new research projects in the bacterial and fungal microbes that are becoming increasing public health problems. These organisms infect people with a lowered immune system, such as those in cancer and HIV treatment.
Seattle Capital Management and Chinook Capital Corporation of Portland announced that they will merge. The newly formed company, Chinook Capital Management, has over $450 million in assets under management. The investment firm will offer on-site portfolio management in both Seattle and Portland. Seattle Capital brought over $400 million in assets under management to the merger. Its fixed income team serves one of the Northwest largest employers, several regional foundations, Native American-owned corporations and trusts, and many influential families.
Frederic Wolf has been named chair of the department of Medical Education at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Wolf previously was a professor in the department of Postgraduate Medical Education and Health Professions Education at the University of Michigan, where he also directed the Laboratory for Computing, Cognition and Clinical Skills.
