The World Trade Club will present the annual Governor's Trader of the Year Award to a company or individual who has made outstanding achievements in international trade. This year the group will also present the Governor's Emerging Trader Award to a small to mid-size company. These awards are given to Washingon-based companies and will be presented at the club's annual dinner in May. To submit a nomination, contact the World Trade Club at (206) 448-8803 by March 27. Previous winners include Eddie Bauer (1995), Ederer Inc. (1996) and Pacific Housing Materials and Design (1997).
AdvanceOnline, a Seattle-based company that designs and develops training and testing programs delivered via the Internet, recently closed a round of private financing that will fund the firm's continued expansion. The company was founded in 1996 and offers distance learning to associations, corporations, institutions and individuals. The focus is on environmental compliance, emergency response and occupational health and safety. Major clients include the US Army Corps of Engineers, Associated General Contractors and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Paul Guppy has been named vice president for research at the Washington Institute Foundation, a non-profit free market think tank in Seattle. Guppy formerly worked in senior legislative positions in Washington, D.C.
Firstaff has changed its name to Affinity Staffing Group. Affinity will provide temporary and permanent staffing for office and accounting, technical support, call centers and medical offices. Affinity will maintain its present location at Kirkland Parkplace Center.
American Seafoods Co., a Seattle-based seafood harvester and processor, has hired Glenn Llopis to head the sales and marketing efforts for the Frionor U.S.A. division. Llopis will be responsible for management of food service operations throughout North America.
Sandusky Radio has appointed Don McGovern as sales account executive for KIXI-AM 880. McGovern will sell commercial time and create product packages. McGovern has nearly 30 years of radio sales experience. San Francisco-based Sandusky Radio owns and operates 10 radio stations, including five in Seattle.

Nora Masters recently joined the Seattle offices of Deloitte & Touche as director of internal audit services in the cosourcing group of Enterprise Risk Services. Masters has eight years of governmental performance and operational auditing experience, as well as three years experience in public accounting. Deloitte & Touche is a national professional service firm, providing accounting, auditing, tax, and management consulting services.
Victoria San Juan, M.D., and Kelly White, M.D., have recently joined the medical staff at PacMed- Northgate, located at 10416 5th Ave. N.E. in Seattle. Pacific Medical Center is a health care provider network with 18 clinics in the Puget Sound area.
