Hovie Francisco Hawk recently opened design>HOVIE, an international creative studio specializing in communications graphics for the Web, print and display, in Ballard. Hovie formerly served as creative director at Bensussen Deutsch & Associates.
Stephen Carson, concept chef for Cucina!Presto, was recently promoted to director of operations for Cucina!Presto. Cucina!Presto currently operates 12 quick-service restaurants throughout the Northwest and in Berkeley, Calif.
Seattle's Cornerstone Communications, a video design and production company, recently received one gold award and two silver awards in the motivation and information categories at the 16th annual International Television Association's Emerald City Awards, recognizing excellence in video communications.
Cheryl Engstrom, president of Bothell-based Engstrom Public Relations, has been awarded the international boat manufacturer account for Arlington-based U.S. Marine's Robalo Boats Division.
London Fog Industries, an international rainwear and outerwear manufacturer, appointed William Dragon, Jr., to the newly created position of president, London Fog Industries Trade Group. Dragon will oversee the wholesale trade business for London Fog and Pacific Trail brands and continue in his current role as president of Seattle-based Pacific Trail outerwear company. Paul Shriber, formerly vice president of sales for Pacific Trail, will become president of London Fog Trade.
Walt Morey, director of terminal services, was recently promoted to senior director of operations for the Port of Vancouver. Morey will also assume the authority and responsibilities of Larry Paulson, executive director, during Paulson's absence.
Jim Pearman, president of Datum Management, has been named chairman of the board of the East King County Convention and Visitors Bureau for a second term. Leon Kos, city administrator for the city of Issaquah, was elected vice chairman for community and government relations. Other officers include Rusty Macy, Wendy Seabloom, Margaret Perugini and Terry Smith. Two new cities have appointments to the board: the cities of Newcastle and North Bend.

Robert Feller, a commercial fishing specialist, recently joined the purchasing team at Fisheries Supply Co. in Seattle. Feller formerly worked for Marine Distributors Inc. John Rothermel was recently promoted to vice president of sales. Rothermel is the first non-family member to be promoted to vice president status.
Ryan D. Rein has joined Foster Pepper & Shefelman as an associate practicing in the estate planning and probate group in the law firm's Seattle office.
Stanislaw Ashbaugh, a Seattle-based law firm, has named Michael T. Zoretic partner. Zoretic will continue his practice in construction law, commercial litigation and employment law. Christopher Wright was recently hired as an associate in construction and commercial litigation. Diane C. Grauer was recently hired as a construction consultant, concentrating on litigation support, claims and preparation analysis, and alternative dispute resolution.
Charles D. Kee has been elected chair of the Edmonds Community College board of trustees and Karen Miller was elected the new vice chair. Kee, an insurance executive, is a partner in Unity Group Inc. in Lynnwood. Ronald M. Battles was recently named director of the Small Business Development Center at Edmonds Community College. Battles formerly served as director of the center at Grays Harbor College.
Kristen M. Bamford, Marya N. Cotten, Kenneth E. Payson, Judith H. Ramseyer and David J. Ward have been hired as associates in the Seattle law office of Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe. Bamford practices environmental law, Cotten practices business law, Payson practices general commercial litigation, Ramseyer practices commercial and general litigation, and Ward practices in the litigation department.
