American Heart Association

Diane Michelle Allvin has joined the American Heart Association's Northwest Affiliate as the new director for the northwest Washington region. Her primary task will be to grow the American Heart Walk. Allvin previously worked as the marketing planner and trainer for the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Plan of Hawaii.

Williams, Kastner & Gibbs

Northwest law firm Williams, Kastner & Gibbs has added attorney Michael A. Herbst, of counsel, to its Seattle office. A former member of the now defunct Bogle & Gates firm, Herbst has over 10 years' experience in international commercial transactions, investments and immigration issues.

TCI Media Services

Steven Sather has been named marketing manager in the Seattle office of TCI Media Services. He is responsible for advertising sales on cable-network sports programming, and will oversee the company's research department and promotions in its Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Everett and Bellingham offices. Sather previously was vice president of Streetball International of Dallas.

Hornall Anderson Design Works

Seattle design firm Hornall Anderson Design Works has added several new employees to its print and online sections. Gretchen Cook and Belinda Bowling are the firm's new designers. Merran Kubalak has been hired as a senior online producer; Roel Nava is the new technical manager of the online department; Ryan Wilkerson is online designer; James Moriarity is interactive programmer; and Whitney Zaring is online producer.

Northwest Hospital

Eric Raman has joined Northwest Hospital's staff as a primary care physician in internal medicine. Raman received his medical degree from the University of Washington in 1995, and completed his residency at the UW Medical Center.

Public Relations Society of America

The Puget Sound chapter of the Public Relations Society of America recently honored Kathleen Fearn-Banks as Professional of the Year. After a career in PR and journalism, she joined the University of Washington in 1990 as a tenured associate professor. Neil McReynolds was named the recipient of the Hugh Smith Community Service Award. McReynolds is a retired senior executive who worked at both Puget Sound Power & Light and Kaiser/Group Health.

Lane Powell Spears Lubersky

Kit G. Narodick has joined the law firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky in the Seattle office as a partner. Narodick concentrates on corporate and commercial aircraft transactions, aircraft finance, general business and corporate law. He was formerly with Bogle & Gates.

Eddie Bauer

Eddie Bauer Inc. has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with the Seattle Mariners to become the official apparel sponsor of the Safeco Field event staff through the 2000 season. Eddie Bauer will provide a full line of green clothing for ticket takers, ushers, tour guides, grounds crew, greeters and parking attendants. The Mariners will hire 700 people to staff Safeco Field on event days. More than 1,000 concession stand workers and vendors will be hired by Volume Services America, the concessions and catering contractor for the ballpark.

Promus Hotel

Promus Hotel Corp., parent company of Doubletree, Embassy and Homewood Suites Hotels and Hampton Inns, has reorganized its Northwest management team. Brad Hutton, Jim Merrill and Brian McCartin have received new assignments to manage and expand the company in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho and Montana. Hutton is regional vice president, overseeing the five-state region. Merrill is managing director of eight Doubletree properties. McCartin is now managing director of five Doubletree properties.

Emerald Solutions

Emerald Solutions, Inc., a Portland-based provider of project-based Internet and information technology consulting services, appointed Robert Caplan as director of information technology. Caplan will manage technology infrastructure and direct project planning and execution for the department. Emerald intends to seek an IPO within the next 24 months.

WHaM

WHaM Communications announced it is a finalist for a Public Relations Society of America Silver Anvil Award. It is one of three finalists in the marketing consumer services category for its work with HomeGrocer.com. WHaM was acquired earlier this month by Edelman Worldwide.

TRM Corp.

Portland-based TRM Corp. announced Shami Patel will join the company as vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Previously Patel held a variety of investment banking and consulting positions. TRM provides convenience photocopy and convenience ATM services in retail establishments. It has 31,000 copy centers in the U.S., Canada, England, Wales, Scotland and France.
