Washington Department of Financial Institutions director John L. Bley announced that the agency's Division of Credit Unions won accreditation from the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors. Accreditation is widely seen as giving the division greater credibility in its dealings with state legislators, federal regulators and consumers.
U.S. Bank has named Barbara Nombaluis vice president of public relations. From her office in Seattle, Nombaluis will direct U.S. Bank's public and media relations activities in Washington and northern Idaho. Nombaulis comes to U.S. Bank from At-sea Processors Association where she served as communications director.

Roxanne L. Spiegel and James J. Fredman III have joined the Seattle law offices of Foster Pepper & Shefelman. Spiegel concentrates her practice in commercial litigation. Fredman will focus on representing hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers and payers. Both join the firm as associates.
Jim Breitenbucher, Aryeh Brown, Maria Staiger and Kimberly Watson have joined the Seattle law firm of Riddell Williams as associates. Breitenbucher and Brown join the firm's litigation practice. Staiger joins the firm's bankruptcy and creditor's rights and corporate finance and transaction practice groups. Watson joins the firm's corporate practice.
Argosy Cruises, a Seattle-based cruise operation, has appointed Sarah Kiepe as director of sales. Prior to joining Argosy, Kiepe was director of sales for Gray Line Seattle. She also held positions at Doug Fox Travel as an assistant manager and travel consultant.
Arnerich Massena, a Portland-based independent investment management and consulting firm, announced that it has hired Brian Loescher and Travis Pruit as senior financial analysts. Loescher has six years of experience in the investment industry having served as a financial analyst for RV Kuhns & Associates. Pruit joins the firm with seven years of experience in the investment industry, most recently working for Copper Mountain Trust in Portland.
Steve Johnson joined the Seattle office of McCann-Erickson as senior writer and group head. Johnson has served previously as a group creative director at Fallon McElligott and as co-creative director at Cole & Weber.
The management committee of U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffray announced that the Seattle Equity Capital Markets employees, Peter Christothoulou and Cameron Hewes, have been named to new officer positions in the company. Both were named vice presidents.
